Default 2020 Topps Definitive Case

I decided to waaaay overpay for a case as I was planning on ripping one at closer to the typical price (but waited too long to pull the trigger and now I'm in at an almost guaranteed loss). However, I am bored and will deal with the financial ramifications when the time comes. Shipping progress shows the case should be here within the next couple of hours. So, come back and enjoy a break I shouldn't do! I will update one box at a time.

Good luck! Let me know if you pull any rare Red Sox.

You are going to hit a massive trout autograph! You will also hit a david ortiz auto and a letter patch that you will sell me cheap since I brought you good luck. Lol

Haha. I like this and I may have to do just that if all of these predictions come true. Somehow, though, I am not so sure. I'd be happy with any Trout auto. I've watched so many cases when I was convincing myself to just resell the case. And, making best guesses with limited sales data, I have seen a few cases with maybe $1,500 of cards after fees and I have seen a few cases with $3,500 or more of cards after fees. But most fall around the $2,000-$2,500 range (which would still be a substantial loss for me). But it will be fun, especially if I hit something like a rare Trout patch auto!

OK, in what should have taken days (like my 10 case Flagship breaks for less than this one case), I am already finished box one.

Saw the glimmer of red on the last patch auto spot card and got excited. No offense to Mr. Contreras, but not what I was hoping for in the least.

To delay the other two a little, I am going to figure out (to the best of my ability) how I think I did on this box. My goal is to at least get half back on each box. Sad, but several cases have not even performed that well!.

Please feel free to message me if interested in a card. Priority given to those who include an offer with their interest. Thanks for looking. Box two will be up in a little.

Solid box if unspectacular. I’d say you at least got half your money back

Thanks for sharing your break. I didn't like the first box - the right cards of the wrong players. I'm pretty sure your next two will be better. Good luck!

I agree. Hard to think I don't end up around $800 which would be great for the price this box should have been but sadly around that half mark as I expected.

No problem. I can't argue with a framed patch of a solid player and a yordan parallel auto. But I do wish the 1/1s would have been better names (again, no offense to the players or their collectors as I love both of them as ballplayers).

I hope you are right about the last two boxes. I will go open box two now.

Some comps just to move the box break along lol...
Kris Bryant sold auction $160
Whit best guess probably $80-100
Contreras Button best guess $130
Yordan best guess $180
Larkin best guess $70
Ozzie Smith sold comp $70
Aquino $75
Realmuto $25-30

This is probably conservative but about $800 on the low end with potential with the Yordan and Contreras to exceed that. Also probably should redeem the Bryant and hope for a nice patch.

Here's to a big box three. If you pull any Griffey I'm interested.

I wanted to buy some of this, but pulled the trigger a day late as I had decided to buy prices were up to 1500+ a box and I passed. Some nice hits in this, but definitely feast or famine like all high end.

Maybe I'll bust a case next year if I can get one early at a good price.

All cards are for sale. This is a "for fun" break and I am hoping it gets to be more fun with box three. Some nice cards but not at the price level.

Not sure of a price yet. Once I get through box three, I'll figure it out and message you.

I hear you. Love Kepler but I do not want to see him in box three.

Yeah, I was in the same boat except I was dumb enough to pull the trigger. A huge card in box three will not bring me anywhere near to even but I still would like to see one. This is why I decided to buy!

The worst thing about this product is that even some of the super nice cards don't carry any sort of product premium. I bought one of the Bichette silhouette game used autos and it was like $130. That seems nuts to me for one of the best rookies and a really cool card. I also picked up a Yordan base auto #/50 and it was like $100. I do really like this product but the box/case prices aren't justified by the resale prices.

They never are. I was fully aware of what I was getting myself into and I debated selling even if at a little bit of a loss. Then I realized I bought it full well knowing I would have to hit two low numbered Trouts and a Griffey to have a chance at not taking two months off of cards to recoup.

Of course, that didn't happen. 0 Trout or Griffey. Did hit a Sean Murphy base auto in the last box. And a non patch relic auto green parallel of deGrom. Big hits for many I am sure! Box 3 update coming in a few.

Box 3. Underwhelming to say the least. Of course, I love the patch book and it is really nice. Just needed Trout or Griffey. But it could have been Goldschmidt so I am happy. Just disappointed in the fact that each card has risen to just about $200 per in these boxes and it is a shame that one of them could be a green parallel auto relic of a mid-tier player (from a collector's market standpoint) AND IT DOESN'T CONTAIN A PATCH??!!???!!

Anyway, here is the final box:
