I'm working a Willie Mays and Matt Taylor set. I dig the art deco style.

Purely for the collection.

I honestly never heard of any of these artist but am enjoying their work, especially Blake Jameson. Can anybody post where they are famous from? Like did one draw Family Guy characters? Another draw comic books or some other cartoon?

I'm doing the whole set of 400.

Might also do some artist and player sets on the side (getting doubles of some right now), but it all adds up so not 100% if I'll keep going for artist and player sets or just stick with 1 card each of the whole run.

Check out Mr Cartoon on Netflix. There is a fairly new doc about him and another LA based latino artist. Mr. Cartoon is a world famous tattoo artist among other talents. Doc is called "LA Originals".

So far, I've only picked up the ones I like w/o any consideration of any of those things. I got the recent Rickey Henderson, a Gibson, a Jeter, and a Griffey. I like the Trout everyone keeps talking about, but I'm too late for that.

Started off choosing 5 artists and 5 players to collect all 20 cards of. Quickly changed to all 400 cards.

Then thought I’d try to put together some Silver framed sets. I think a 20-card Silver-framed set of Trout cards would be a spectacular display piece, for instance.

I am doing the Trout set. I have been buying them direct from topps and duplicates on eBay if I really like the look. I may do the Ermsy set too. I have all but the Ichiro Ermsy.

I'm doing the Trout set as well. Painful to buy the Ermsy on Friday, but it stings less looking at prices since.

Also buying a few cards as they come up and I like the design. Picked up Siff's Ripken, Thiele's Koufax and Blake's Robinson so far.

Finally, buying 10 ea of each Trout and Griffey release to flip. Seems like a profitable venture so far, so I'm starting with those guys. May expand that list if it seems like a good idea, but trying not to go TOO crazy with the expenses for right now.

Prices are all over the place. I think there may be people speculating on lower print runs believing that they will be "key". The issue I have with that is you'll see roughly the same amount over the players releases. Dwight Gooden for instance is anywhere from 1065 to a high of 1865 for Ermsy's version. I really dont see it that changing no matter who the artist is. I think Baller's releases will be the test though.

Mattingly set and a Saladeen set, gonna figure out how to frame both separately and put on the wall.

I will also pick up some of the artist signed ones that I really like as they are released.

I just switched up, some of these I'm already priced out of. I dont want to spend $100 on some of them just to start. So I'm just going with Ben Baller and an Ermsy Auto set.

Probably my only player set will be Trout, but I might pick up Thomases and Ichiros. So far Matt Taylor is the only artist I've kept up with, although Ermsy has been growing on me, along with Thiele, Mr. Cartoon, and JK5. But I could see myself picking away at the full set over time.

Jeter / Trout / Blake / Ermsy....but I am really liking what Tyson Beck has been creating as well. Might have to unload some extras to start a 5th run lol

This set is ripe for counterfeits. Not going to touch them.
