Default Tom Brady 2002 Topps Chrome

Hi, I'm relatively new to the forum (been lurking for a while) and I only recently just got back into the hobby (but mainly collect basketball).

But I was just wondering why/when did this card jump in price so suddenly? I know this is his first year for Chrome but a raw was selling for about $40 a couple of months ago and now it's selling for $200.00 on Ebay.

Just wondering because I own the Weekly Wrap-Up subset card. I was gonna sell it a couple of months ago and would have been happy with a $5 sale and then I completely forgot to list it. And now I see that it's going for around $40-50.

Is it because he signed with the Bucs? Will a lot of his premium 2nd year cards see spikes?

Thanks for any responses.

Because it's his first year chrome and the entire market is up. People have obsessed over Prizm and Optic and their predecessor Topps Chrome. Nothing to do with the Bucs lol, but I'd sell now before he has the chance to bomb in Tampa. And no, not many *Third* year cards will see spikes. 2002 SP Authentic is another big one, though.

You're wrong in some aspects.

It is his first Topps Chrome card, and that will hold weight, and his 2002 year stuff is becoming more popular as his rookie year stuff gets too expensive.

Brady cards will not decline though, and I'm not sure how much more room they have to grow. I don't see Brady bombing when he has a lot of weapons on that offense to work with though. I don't see Brady prices suddenly tanking anytime soon, guy has 6 Super Bowl rings, MVP awards, will be 2nd place on every important QB all time record list, and thus the best QB of all time.

Ok thanks. Completely forgot 2002 was his 3rd year in the league, since I'm not sure he had any 2001 cards produced.

How am I wrong? I never said his prices will tank, but they can dip or plateau and/or come back to reality. And he very well could bomb in Tampa, there's literally no way of knowing until games happen. Never said he's not the GOAT.

Yes, he had 7 cards in 2001 - Playoff Preferred and Upper Deck F/X plus Pacific Atomic with his first jersey cards.

Very very few. A Pacific jersey card that features game worn memorabilia from his rookie season that is going for ungodly amounts.

I think everything Brady from that Era is up 3x to 4x in the last couple months. I picked up his ring of honor insert from that set for maybe 40 for a PSA 10, and now it goes for 4x that.

Technically I think that card is 3 or 4x times harder to pull than his base, but demand is much lower.

I'm all in on his 2001 cards because there were so few issues and I think other collectors are forgetting about them.

I thought there was an article put out that his 2001 jersey cards from pacific had fake jerseys?

There will be plenty of bumps for non-RC Brady cards moving forward. His better 2nd and 3rd year cards, as well as his Refractors from all years will go the way of LeBron and Kobe moving forward, which is up.

Hell after his fifth AND sixth Super Bowl people thought his cards had hit their peak, but here we are.

Short of a OJ type scandal Brady is a very safe investment IMO. Even if he bombs in Tampa you might see a slight dip in non rookie stuff but those prices will bounce back and probably increase more as he nears his date with Canton. If he’s successful and the team makes a conference final, all his cards will go up. If they make a super bowl, everything today will seem like a steal. Heaven help us if he wins one in Tampa as his cards will go nuclear. As others have said his topps chrome refractors are great investments right now, older the better (pre 2012 for base refractors)

He’s not bombing in Tampa with Godwin, Evans, Gronk, and RoJo. I think his early cards have room to grow.

Skip all that, focus on his 20th year Prizm Bucs rookie

This will undoubtedly be a hot card, at least for a while. I remember Favre in Vikings uniform cards going for good money in 2009. Montana in Chiefs uniform were hot sellers in 93-94 as well.

You just said in the other thread that he still has something to prove. Yet here you are saying he'll be a bust in TB.

Make up your mind bruh

2020, where people play both sides and still remain incorrect.

Reading comprehension can be difficult. “Could” is not the same as “will”. You “could” learn to read, but you “will” not.

By the way, having something to prove and not retiring does not equate to being successful or being a bust. Not quite sure what your argument/attempted insult is?
