Default Beware of Burbank Sports Cards

I've ordered from this place in the past a few times with luck, but it seems they have changed their practices. I ordered 35 cards totaling $50 from them back in the middle of May. To this date the cards have not shipped and I cannot get a response by email or phone. On top of that Paypal/Ebay will not cover the transaction with buyer protection. Just passing the word to let everyone else know they should avoid this scam shop.

Why wont paypal or ebay cover the transaction? Something is missing here

The last time I ordered from them, they didn't accept Paypal any longer. Only Credit card through eBay's payment program. You might want to reach out to your credit card and file a chargeback if Burbank hasn't shipped, hasn't provided tracking, and won't respond to your messages.

They still have their listings as "Same Day Shipping" so COVID can't really be an excuse for this.

Probably because it's too early with eBay's protections for slow shipping/delivery times during COVID and their status as a Power Seller.

I can't believe I'm doing this, but I'll say my luck with them turned around a little bit over the last couple of months. They did fulfill my first order around the time Covid hit with 2 of the cards incorrect but refunded promptly when I questioned them. Then there was a Ricky Williams card that had been overpriced for years but I felt the 90s market may finally be catching up to their "best offer" price that they offered me awhile back. I made the offer and they countered with something significantly higher. I declined and quoted their previous offer in my comment. Thought I was out of luck again, but they eventually pulled the listing down and inexplicably relisted at that lower offer price so I hit the BIN. Order was placed 5/28 and delivered 6/5.

Both of my orders were shipped in a pretty reasonable time so something is obviously up with yours, sorry it is happening, I am still not crazy about using them unless they're doing a big percentage off items. I notice they're always too good to participate in Beckett's holiday sales.

There is no time frame mentioned so that could be a possibility. You cannot typically open an ebay claim until the estimated delivery date has passed

Cards were supposed to be delivered June 1st which wasn't an issue, but the fact that they won't even respond is ridiculous.

Ordered a bunch of cards from them through the Beckett Marketplace last month and received them very quickly.

There seems to something missing from the story and the lack of detail isn't helping. Burbank Sportscards has been around a long time and they haven't survived all these years by scamming people. I have never had an issue over the years - admittedly they aren't always the cheapest but sometimes they have things I cannot find elsewhere and they do ship promptly. Perhaps they have come up short in the customer service department with this case, but calling it a "scam shop" strains credulity.

There is no reason Paypal or Ebay should not be helping unless there is more to this story. Do you have a history of opening claims? They will remove those who do it excessively from the BPP program.

I think the biggest red flag on this story is getting 35 cards for $50 from them, there’s no way they’d be that cheap.

Have dealt with Rob from BURBANK for many years. I have sold him a number of unopened cases and never any type of issue with payment or any other issues.

Ordered two lots from them off Beckett in the last 3 weeks and both were delivered within a week. One card was sent incorrectly and I had a refund within an hour of my email. No complaints from me.

I’ve bought quite a bit from them over the years and have got quite a few cards for $50. If you’re looking lower end they have some stuff starting at 0.35. So I’ve spent $50 to get free shipping from them and bought 80+ cards doing it.

I sometimes buy from them, but mostly I use another seller that offers 20% discount when buying 2+ items plus free shipping over $10. I've bought probably $100+ worth of Champ cards from him.

There's still plenty missing here. The notion that eBay wouldn't take care of a buyer who bought 30 items and doesn't have a confirmed delivery a month later is extremely hard to believe.

No one is going to change their thoughts on Burbank from this thread. You have to provide the full story.

Guess I've only seen their high priced listings on ebay stores, usually it's $2-3 for a 50 cent card. Not that there's anything wrong with that, they often have a lot of oddball and hard to find parallels also and I've certainly bought from them myself before and have had no problems.

I live in Burbank and Burbank Sportscards in my LCS. I have know Rob for many years and he is about the nicest, most decent and honest guy on planet earth. Burbank Sportscards is the largest volume card dealer in the country - literally - and as others have said they have made their reputation over the decades providing solid service to the hobby. Admittedly they aren’t the cheapest in terms of pricing, but I’ve never, ever heard of them just not delivering an order. Ever! They are the bedrock of reputable in the industry.

I do know they were forced to close for a while due to COVID-19 but they have been back open for several weeks now. They answer their phone religiously. Maybe the OP was calling them during the shutdown?

Said he called after June 1st. I would love to know the rest of the story, but I guarantee the OP never comes back to tell it. Tried to call out Dave and Adams once as well and got struck down.

Yeah. His next (and last) thread will probably be "Beware-Blowout Cards is a scam dealer"

I’ve never had any problems with them, either ordering online or buying at the actual shop.

If they sent the wrong card or oversell, they’ll send you the right one or buy it from another shop to send on their behalf. Both are personal examples.

They were experiencing shipping delays of 10-14 business days during COVID, but are slowly getting up to normal speed as confirmed on their site header and from speaking with Ryan.

They also answer calls and emails pretty quickly, so it’s strange to hear anyone have problems communicating with them.
