Question about 2010 Topps Chrome Variation RC's

How rare are the variation rookie cards? Did Topps ever announce the print run?

I busted a case of chrome from BO last Monday and did not pull a variation. I actually went back through all my rc's and did not see one so 1 per case isn't true all the time.
