Default Walmart might be removing cards from there stores

This was copy and pasted from a Facebook group I belong to and I just leave it there.

Guys, I deal with Walmart corporate on a regular basis and they are aware of this issue and have been discussing eliminating card sales all together as they are becoming a nuisance and don't make a blip to the bottom line.

One guy told me they really got pissed when they heard of kids being pushed out of the way by adults who clear out the shelves.

I'm guessing those same conversations are or will be had at Target too.

there's no way this happens- get rid of sports cards but keep Pokemon, Wrestling, Star Wars, Walking Dead, and other cards like that

I doubt it happens at Target. It seems a lot of stores have implemented a purchase limit of 2 products each. I know not all have, but there are some that have done their part in preventing people from stockpiling. Either way, my Walmart sucks so it's no love lost. They've had the same 3 packs of 2020 Score Football there for the last 4 months.

That's probably what he meant. At least I assume it is. I don't think stores are having any issue with Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! cards being hoarded lol

Some Targets and Wal-Marts have eliminated them.

I noticed at my walmart thats sports cards section is getting smaller and magic and the other crap is taking over. 1 of the Targets has 4 feet of Sports and 12 feet of crap

It does bring people in the stores. I usually buy stuff in target whenever I go for cards. I know many might not, but it is definitely a reason for me to go there and shop.

lol i get what you're saying, but i doubt this happens.

there might be a Walmart here or there that discussed it, but nationally, no way this happens.

Walmart more than anybody know this, better to have and make money than to not have and lose money

I have 3 local Targets and all 3 have already eliminated carrying sports cards. Each just have huge gaps where cards used to be with Pokemon spreading out a bit more.

I'm talking full blown not a single pack of sports cards in the stores anymore, not just popular stuff.

In Milwaukee, there is only 1 of 5 metro Walmarts that keeps up their card inventory. This will end up happening at some point.

Likely rebranding the SKUS and selling direct or as lower cost option via hobby stores.

Walmart needs to move the cards to an aisle where you don't have to fight with shoppers trying to make their purchases. It's a pain trying to get down it and look, especially with the social distancing stuff associated with COVID.

At least most of the Targets I go to, the cards are on the opposite end of the entrance/exit and the register is on the opposite side and rarely open.

Sportscard displays at my two Walmarts have been completely empty every time I visit for the last 4 months.
Not completely sure if they ever get refilled, but I'm not successful in seeing any...not one product.

thank all the guys in the chrome thread who were proudly posting pictures of a ton of boxes, hangers, packs, etc, happy they cleared out their store and on their way to the next store.

Several WM stores in my area have gone completing to all self checkouts. There is one large area for self checkouts and on both sides of the checkout there is a mini market. On one side of the mini market there is one aisle devoted to cards. So it has been removed from the checkout area, which is nice. I think most of the WMs are moving to this type of arrangement.

Would just make it easier for the pack searchers. I figured the reason they were in sight was to try and stop theft/teenage prom moves to the cards but it still happens. Imagine if it was hidden even more? I wouldn't trust buying a single retail product unless I watched it go from the Employees hands, to the shelf, and then my hands into my cart.
