Default NBA postpones all games on Wednesday

Is it weird there's no thread for this? This is a monumental action by the players.

Weird to be posting this on a card forum but since it's been said...

Yes all lives matter, but black lives are the ones that are targetted by systemic racism and the police force. This is a proven fact.

The reason weed is illegal is because of many reasons, but among them is the fact that they drive police business and activity against minorities and private prisons very much like it when minorities are kept in their prisons and keeping weed illegal is the easiest way to make sure that happens. Naturally, the police force is basically taught to be racist and assume the worst about black people. Are any other races targetted in this way by the police? I don't think so. Police aren't going around the white neighborhoods looking to catch a bunch of white teenagers smoking it up. And weed is just one example of systemic racism against black people and other minorities to a lesser extent. These things have been confirmed by former police lieutenants who were willing to be whistleblowers.

Again, all lives matter, but that's not the point. The point is that black lives are being treated like they don't matter. We need to wake up and realize we need to be better as people regardless of our color, gender or looks and support each other. I hope this helps

Sad times in America. I'm not against the walkout but you have to wonder how effective it's going to be without any sort of demands or plan for action.

I understand people want action and want it now but to truly make change there needs to be a plan.

And the players didn't/don't have a plan yet. You have a plan first, then do what you need to do.

Guess Lebron realized he couldn’t beat the Celtics.

I expected Lebron to walk out after his team was down 0-3.

Pretty sure that was early last night and there are still discussions going on. Unless he walked out again, in which case I'm not sure why he'd go back after walking out the first time.

If true though, I will give Lebron props for FINALLY standing up and doing something. Normally he just sits and talks and everything is about Lebron and his legacy.

I agree, especially if you want to be taken seriously and actually spur change. Otherwise you’re just stoking the fire and furthering the chaos and confusion.

I think the players would have more support if they laid out a plan for action and then walked out

Truth. Have your plan, lay out who needs to be involved and what you hope to accomplish. Then walk out and say you aren't playing until they are accomplished.

I'm still not sure what they hope to accomplish. Make the owners donate money? Nothing they can do to the actual police except maybe sit down with leaders of the unions or something.

I think Doc Rivers was accurate when he said the players power is playing. If they strike the rest of the playoffs it won’t be newsworthy for more than a few days. Humans have short attention spans. By playing I agree they get much more attention on the issues unfortunately. If they don’t MLB, Hockey, football will be right there to fill the entertainment void.

This is where I am confused as well. I get that they want to bring more attention to the cause, but what is the end game here? What are they looking to accomplish. When a strike happens it is usually for specific demands, I have not heard what the players are asking for. The NBA has stepped up in support and many owners have done so as well. I guess I am looking for a clear picture of what the players goals are for this strike/boycott...

That's where I'm at as well. Even talking to police unions isn't going to get much done.

There needs to be an independent group (without affiliation to either clown party) to do an in depth study on police policies and procedures and make recommendations on how to improve community relations at a federal level. The problem is that anything like this years to truly make worthwhile changes.

It's not like anyone can snap their fingers and "fix" the system overnight which is what it seems like people want.

I give this one until 9:40 AM EST. The morning crew can be a little rowdy.

Regardless of your political affiliation or beliefs, I hope YOU have a great day and that YOU can positively impact another human today.
