Default Mayfield prices skyrocketing

Been keeping an eye on Baker Mayfield items for the past year. His Prizm and Optic rookies are fetching some serious coin right now. Surprised to see some of his PSA 10 Optic Holos hitting $500+. Heck, even his ungraded base prizm and optic rookies have been selling out on eBay. Someone went through on the 30th and 31st and bought a ton of prism and optic rookie. I know the season is right around the corner, but wasn't expecting his stuff to jump like it has.

Buyer's Clubs or Buyer's Groups are basically a conglomerate of buyers/ "investors" who will buy up as many cards as possible just to manipulate the market for their own gains and benefit.

The forums have numerous threads on the subject.

But here's one that speaks of just one group

I own 3 of the 20 Jake Dolegala 2019 Select "Cosmic" RCs.

Going to manipulate the #@#@ out of the market someday.

I would sell so fast if I had some Baker. I would offer to drive it to the buyer.

Extrapolate...

Since they are literally polar opposites

I know they are polar opposites in terms of personality but on the field I tend to think Baker's career will mirror Jay Cutler. I probably will be wrong.

Baker does have potential to grow and become a top 15 QB but the fact he ranked 25th out of 26 QB's who threw 400+ passes with two top receivers (Landry/Beckham) and Nick Chubb in the backfield definitely makes you wonder if he can take the leap even with a new coaching staff.

They buy up somebody cheap and then hype them up, a bunch of sheep drive up that guys cards. They then unload making huge profits and move onto the next guy while some poor fool is left high and dry with some cards he didn’t want that are deprecating by the second after the gig is up.

For a bum of a QB who hasn't done much, that's quite impressive.

I guess breaking Peyton Manning's Rookie TD mark by a QB makes one a bum these days. Yeah, Mayfield had a rough sophomore year, I would chalk that up to crap coaches that were in over their heads and too many commercials by Baker. All which have been fixed.

All signs point to a good year by Mayfield and the Browns... You do realize that the browns were 4-44 the 3 years before Mayfiled took over right? There was not a game on the schedule they were favored in. You do understand turnarounds take time in the NFL?... The Pats were at once the laughing stock of the league as well... I know we are a society of instant gratification, but this is a bit much.

All good though. Im a buyer of this bum and have been for awhile.

I actually like Baker OK, but you're not comparing him to Manning are you... based off of one stat? Surely not...?

Nope. Long way to go to be in Manning's category. Im saying, he was called a bum, and last time I checked bums dont break good records, especially as a rookie. But go check out all the basketball threads comparing Luka to all time greats and he has been in the league for 2 years. Cant have it both ways only to fit someones agenda.

I will say your 49rs put the beat down on QB's last year. What they did to Mayfield and Goff others was amazing. They were playing some great ball in the middle of the season. Goff was 13 of 24 for 78 yards. Case Keenum was 7 of 12 for 77 yards the next game as well! That was crazy!

Baker's going to end up being another Jameis Winston. All sizzle no steak.
