Default BGS smudging/fingerprints???

So I sent a Luka card to BGS to get graded and it came back a 9.5. That's not the problem. The problem is that it looks like it's been smudged to hell, when i definitely didn't send it in as such. Could it be the case/sleeve???

Pictures below...

I have had this before. Got a 10 for surface. Cracked it out and yes the finger prints where on the surface.

There's no excuse for this happening with any TPG. Good Lord, have some quality control and actually look at the cards before you ship them out.

I had it happen on a sub earlier this year back before the pandemic on about five cards. I emailed them scans and they provided a label to ship it back to them on their cost. They wiped them down and recased under 2 day grading turn around. Things might have changed some on the timeline now, but they should still get it taken care of for you. It makes no sense to me why their graders wouldn't be wearing disposable gloves when slabbing cards.

Especially during a pandemic, wth. Also are they eating chips while grading? Even without gloves they shouldn’t be manhandling the cards and leaving fingerprints, I don’t and I’m not a grader.

You need to wash your hands before touching each card. PSA does not do this and they just crank the grades out.

Update: I got my card back from BGS a few days ago, re-cased, and it's still smudged to hell. One side looks better, the other: worse. They failed to return my card to me smudge free like they said they would. A**holes.

I will never send them another card.

I had 4 come back from PSA out of a 40 card order with the same issue. All of them were graded 10’s. This one had a huge smudge by Rui’s head. Attachment 493061

This happened to me on a Prizm silver Luka rookie. Big fingerprint.
I don't understand how they can be so careless.

Same for me with a recent PSA order. Ja Morant Select Premier Silver got a PSA 10 and the holder greatly reduces the eye appeal especially since the card is shiny. It is on the inside so there is nothing I can do. I wrote them and am hoping they will recase it free of charge.

It could be possible that the BGS is smudged on the inner sleeve of the BGS case; and not the card itself. Hopefully at least.

Had a BGS 9 with 9 Surface sub grade on a 2018 Luka Optic Purple. Had a fat thumb print in the middle that wasn't there before. Cracked it and subbed to PSA got a Gem 10. Never submitted to BGS ever since...

Or the graders could just, you know, wear gloves...

So the last reply I received from customer service was an outright denial claiming that there was "no way our expert graders would ever do such a thing" (paraphrasing) and furthermore: "there's nothing else we can do, sorry". Which makes no sense, considering the initial apology and offer to recase/remove fingerprints after getting the card back the first time. Why try to make amends for something that's an "impossibility"? Why'd they change their story?

Shady doesn't begin to describe those idiots.

LOL, then they're essentially saying their grading methodology is a sham if a smudged card got a high grade. Dopes.
