I was going to post about that as well, if they go through a rough patch this year it's going to get really really nasty quickly. I have a hard time not seeing this blow up. Wins cover up all issues so if they show out next year it won't be a thing but if they face any adversity watch out.

I don't think it makes him a sissy, I think it makes him a primadonna. It also adds fuel to the fire from the situation with his uncle and the Lakers.
Robertson, according to The Athletic, was asking for an ownership stake, a private plane available at any time, a house and “a guaranteed amount of off-court endorsement money that they could expect if Leonard played for their team.” These demands particularly rankled the Lakers, whose owner, Jeanie Buss, made clear to Robertson that such demands were illegal as they fall outside what’s allowed per the collective bargaining agreement. The report also says Robertson made similar demands in talks with the Raptors, who won their first-ever NBA title in June with Leonard leading the way. |

Kawhi has a genuine chronic leg issue. The problem is he doesn't seem like much of a leader and has sometimes conducted himself without "honor" (the whole Spurs situation was shambolic from what I've read). In Toronto other veterans like Lowry were able to fill vacuum leadership and allowed Kawhi to do his thing. It sounds that in LA both Kawhi and PG were somewhat resented by certain teammates. It may be that players understand Kawhi's unique health situation but resent what they see as him going above and beyond with things they consider disrespectful (being late for team flights and things of that nature). It's one thing to receive unique treatment with full transparency, it's quite another when you veer off into unnecessarily disrespectful things that have nothing to do with the underlying condition.
I still think the Clips matched up well with the Lakers and could have given them real trouble in a 7 game series. Will be interesting to see how Ty Lue manages the locker room issues and if he can right the ship. A few of these guys won't be in the mix anymore anyways, I still think the Clips will likely be a very strong team next year and will end up ironing out some of these known issues to some degree...

That gives so much insight into how they could fall after being up 3-1. It sounds like there was no team chemistry. Overall if that is true, they did quite well despite having these issues. You fix that, they probably are the champs right now.
I do not understand how you fix something like this other than treating Kawhi like everyone else, and we have already learned Kawhi refuses to be treated like his peers. He is special in many ways. |

Kawhi should've just stayed in Toronto

Trade them. Kawhi is a champion, FMVP and a Superstar. You find pieces that fits him, not the other way around. Harrell, Lou Williams and Beverly are not championship caliber role players to begin with.

What exactly did these idiots think would happen when they signed him? Don’t remember any complaining then.

Harrell is overrated but Lou Williams is an ideal role player. He plays hard, he doesn't care about his role and he's been a pretty good teammate. Beverly is a blowhard.

what? thank god you aren't in charge of a pro sports team. "We have this one dude we need to go find pieces for..." said no one ever. Dude thinks he is Jordan and his teammates despise him

Kawhi and Uncle Dennis don't exactly hide who they are. The Clippers knew who they were getting in bed with.

It’s as if Kawhi doesn’t have 2 Final MVP’s but let’s build on Lou Williams and Harrell....but you carry on with your nonsense.

In the NBA, the power has transitioned from owners to players. Sometimes it pays off (i.e. LeBron), and sometimes it backfires (Kawhi--so far).
I think Kawhi would have benefitted from either: 1.) Signing a 1 year deal to stay in Toronto 2.) Just going to the Clippers without PG13. They'd still have SGA, Gallo, and all their draft picks. Think about that Toronto team with Kawhi still there. It's probably Raptors vs. Lakers this year. And if Kawhi had beaten LeBron again, ppl would say he's the best player in the world. |

It was high risk high reward play for Clipps to get Kawhi. And only way they get Kawhi is to do the trade for PG, so that trade was essentially Kawhi/PG for all those picks/Shai. But the Kawhi ultimatum screwed up their negotiating position vis a vis trade market.
I still think it was worth the risk to try, but at this point it is looking like a loss. Maybe it's a different story next year if they have massive success. But these two guys are injury-prone/hampered and have leadership issues so I'm not high on their chances. Plenty of other teams on the up and up that will likely be better and have better momentum/chemistry, next year is do or die for Clipps. Beyond that they may be facing a lost decade.

The West is going to be brutal as hell. It's pretty obvious that the team that wins the West wins the title. I mean you didn't even mention Portland that will likely still be in it. The Timberwolves that will be much improved and the Grizzlies.

That Patrick Beverley has any expectations of being treated the same as Kawhi is laughable. Superstars get better treatment...and deserve it.

Haha. The Clippers suck dude. I'm glad you know that. Duncan and Lowry carried Kawhi to the pedestal

Wild, NBA superstar getting special treatment!!!
Also from everything reported, the load management is essential to a chronic knee/leg injury he'll deal with the rest of his career. Clickbait 'story', much to do about nothing other than some mad lesser players going to the media anonymously.

You can make a case that every other team will be just as good or improved compared to this year. And that's before FA. Of course, you can also say the West will be super competitive and they'll beat each other up and everyone will be around 40-50 wins. But yeah, it's gonna be harder to win the West next year. |
