Default Mistakes you have made....

I was reading another post and there was discussion about how IGers and "investors" post all their wins and great pulls, but obviously we never see their losses and mistakes. What have regrets/mistakeshave you made lately. Something we can all learn from?

I ripped 6 boxes of Origins football that I was "saving" and pulled nothing big. Worst, I didn't pull any of the guys I collect! I knew they were more valuable unopened, but......

Good news, it kept me from ripping a box of Obsidian basketball I'm saving.

Im at a rate of about 1 in every 4 boxes I get decent hits that would be case purchase worthy . Some weeks I'll open 30 or so boxes and get like 2 big hits and sometimes ill go a week and open 30 and hit 20 times . So really as long as I enjoy and can sell the stuff I don't want then I'm ok .I've been in the hobby since 1984 and I don't think I've ever had what I would say a loss on any break ever, meaning if box was 100 im able to recoup at least 75%-80% on a loss box which in my eyes I chaulk that up to entertainment.

Yeah, my disappointment was clearly tied to my expectations. And that's why we do this right, cause opening wax is fun.

Love your avatar btw....displaced Michigander here

I bought a bunch of these loose, non-BBCE packs at a local Flea Market recently - was in a hurry to leave and just made an impulse purchase.

I did some research later and found out that you can find all of these complete sets (sealed) for peanuts on ebay

Yeah since a kid i had always been good at organizing my cards so as I bust I keep 7 stacks. Stars, rcs, auto, jersey, color, numbered, and common.

Then I go through those stacks and pull my pc from and sell the rest .

Didn't those have autos in them and some foil inserts that can go for big money

Buying $400 worth of cheap Harden rookies during the bubble thinking the general public would come to value him. Spoiler alert: Nobody likes James Harden.

Truth.
I heard James Harden's mom unfollowed him on Instagram

I would love to be able to open 30 boxes per week. I’m at like 1-2 per year lol

I'm speculating here, but I think it takes some time to get to that point. Lots of reselling to build up some equity.
I'm somewhere in the middle right now. I get to open about 10-15 boxes a week (depending on the mix of retail finds versus secondary market).

Opened a lot of Exquisite from 2003-04, 2005-06 and pulled a lot of really amazing cards. I do not own any of them today... regret.

I tried to put together the 14-15 select master set. I spent somewhere in the low/mid 5 figures on the chase and gave up because there were some cards people were essentially holding hostage for crazy prices and it stopped being fun trying to make deals to get stuff so I quit.

Got pennies on the dollar selling what I could. Still have a boatload of stuff that I can’t give away lol

Oh man, this is the worst thing about set collecting, there's always some jerk holding that wants to take you for everything.
