Im glad there are some international sellers who offer relativ normal prices, not those jacked up and artificially increased US prices!

$1000 a box??? I though today was St. Patrick's Day....not April Fools Day?

YOU ARE KILLING THE HOBBY!!! You set this ridiculous market where a majority of the buyers are just group breakers. Then the other sites and local card shops say "well, we are cheaper than Blowout" to justify their outlandish prices. This should be no more than $300 a box and just like I said in the Prizm EPL thread.....folks are going to get destroyed and go into some serious debt if they buy this at $1K per box. You all have been warned

I bought some boxes of this at $295 for the same reason I bought Merlin. If it’s a Champions League product it’s going to be way more than $300 by the time it releases. I also thought Finest was going to be the first product released so it would get a bump from that. It didn’t turn out to be the case as it looks like Bundesliga may get that prized. I’m not saying the high prices are a good thing it’s just the way it is and I prepared accordingly.

I also think Topps has a full Moukoko run like they did with Haaland which alone will carry these boxes for a while.

gotta gouge the new blood in the hobby to get the maximum dollar.

They have to get Moukoko in this year with Dortmund currently on the outside looking in for next year (although I suspect that Dortmund will ultimately qualify ahead of Frankfurt and/or Wolfsburg).

Even so, $1k/box is silly.

As a man in his 50s, who has been buying trading cards since the mid-1990s, currently runs his own retail [record shop] business, but previously but had a nearly 30-year career working with the financial markets, everything about the prices of new product screams to me as 'unsustainable'.

We all know that a host of 'investors' have jumped into the hobby over the last 12 months and the hobby is the flavor of the month. Combine that with the unique circumstances presented by COVID-19 and you have a set of circumstances that is unsustainable. The underlying product does not warrant the prices being levied and there will be a correction at some point.

In the interim for most of us, it is just a case of sitting tight, waiting for things to right themselves and (in my case) satisfy myself with picking up singles.

While I somewhat agree ultimately the market sets the price after the initial release. It's all tied to what the total of the breaks end up going for and if its worth it to keep buying/ripping. You will see bad products fall and good products go up.

The initial boom for soccer even kinda skipped Finest. 18-19 Finest "only" $600. 19-20 finest is only 2k because of the world being convinced Haaland was the greatest thing on planet earth. Messis go for less in this than just about anything else it seems.

So the question is what makes THIS special?

Moukoko? Man - with 100 cards even with Topps wanting to maximize young talent, I don't know if that gets in. And I think I'll want Bundesliga more. And I can get that cheaper now.

Bellingham? Maybe MORE likely than Moukoko... but he's def not haaland.

With 100 cards do we see someone like Gravenberch or Camavinga who didn't make knockouts? Cherki isn't an option.

Szoboszlai? Maybe he gets RBS card like Haaland and then an RBL SP. Which would be cute. But he's not Haaland.

It's not any different than people falling all over themselves to pay $700 for a box of Prizm, though.

If I'm going to set money on fire for a bad EV situation, I'm buying 19-20. If I want to take a shot at what a checklist MAY be, I'm doing Bunde chrome. For a product that was already a bit of a secondary thought, this makes it way easier to ignore it barring some dramatic unique player we get.

I think 20-21 could be pretty deep with Bellingham, Moukoko (maybe), Gravenberch, Camavinga, Szoboszlai, Musiala, Pedri, Trincao (maybe), Moriba (unlikely), Puig (unlikely), De Ketelaere. Plus, there are suddenly a fair number of Americans beyond Pulisic who will generate interest even if not "rookies"-- Reyna, Dest, McKennie, and Adams. No Haaland in the group, but if only half of those guys make it in, it is still a pretty nice checklist.

Nowhere close to $1K nice, but could be a fun break at a decent price. I personally thought Finest looked nicer than chrome this past year. I just hate having to blindly buy into a product without seeing the checklist in order to avoid a crazy price increase as it gets closer to release.
