Default Has Panini stopped printing Mosaic yet?

Im wondering what the print run on this crap is. Every week there is a restock at the retail stores. How are hobby boxes maintaining the $700 price tag when the base are barely worthy of the 25 cent box at your LCS? Most of the Mosaic cards are $1-$2 cards. The autos aren’t what you buy this type of product for anyhow, similar to Prizm. The silvers seem to be far too common to be worth $700/box money.

What am I missing?

As much as their printing, really doesn't matter for me. I'll never find any

The auto cards seem somewhat rare, don't they? (agree on all of the other points)

the autographs are rare because they are printing soooooooooooooooooo much other filler for the boxes.

They arent worth it and the prices seem to be trending downward. (unopened retail anyway)

You don't feel that the autographed cards are a good value? I was thinking those are a good buy, buy maybe Im wrong?

I agree the Silver Prizms, base cards, etc are going to not be worth much (unless you are lucky to have a PSA 10 without dimples)

there arent too many good values anywhere right now. Personally, if I were hard up on the autos, I would come back to them in the offseason.

Also me- not an auto guy

Yea you are probably right.....Im just a little bullish on the 2nd half of the season for a couple of guys that I think will effect the value a bit...and I kind of like the Mosaic autos. But Im usually wrong so take that with a grain of salt

From a $$$ standpoint, looking at what basketball is doing right now with a season ahead that might be the best place to put money?

Who knows...all fun

Seems like the Mosaic football stocking faucet has been turned off. I haven't heard of any re stockings lately in my region. Are you guys still actually finding fresh packs and boxes at Walmart and Target?

Thanks to the ludicrous amounts of Mike Alstott Mosaic listings, the only card I really gave a damn about I was able to snag for $60 a few weeks ago.

Suffice to say I got quite the steal.

If you reply with...."last one on eBay sold for this"...then you should have bought it on eBay.

Prizm Basketball had one restock in most places, 2 at the most and then done. That was after everyone said it would be available until the spring. It dried up almost immediately.

I bought a bunch of the white sparkle packs. I'm staying away from the retail and hobby mosaic.

When a local flipper flexes 16 cases of it, it's overproduced. That'll be good down the line. They are having issues selling them for $30-$40.

i know the prizm release will take away from Mosaic once it is released in December...but is anyone else less excited to see the Prizms come out this year when the season is basically over at that point? I for one will be 100% on basketball by that point and probably wont revisit football prizm until spring.

Or am I just an odd duck

I am less excited about Prizm because of the insane price they are looking to ask for it. I am sure they will water it down with plenty of retail Blasters, Hangers, Cello, Mega, Choice, Collectors Boxes and any other descriptive name they can come up with for a box.

The costs for Herbert and Burrow will be so high out of the gate, I am guessing it will be best to wait until the offseason for those two since the season will only have 4 weeks left at that point anyways?

Wax always wins. Like it or not, high print run be damned, this stuff is getting ripped like crazy. In a year sealed boxes of this stuff of any form will be scarce with a possible generational class. You will make bank sitting on wax with this stuff for a couple of years. Ripping it is a crap shoot. The rare stuff like rookie whites and orange fluorescents will hold value but with the print runs this high those are tough pulls.

Moral of the story, Hold the wax. You can always rip it later if you feel that’s the better option, but regardless of how much they print sealed boxes of it get rarer everyday.

Yes. I dont think they have stopped making it yet. But I have nothing to back that up besides seeing boxes going to walmart and target with 5-10 boxes of the pink camo packs.

They have cut it way down lately to 110,000 blaster and 96,000 hangers and 82,000 megas per/day this week.

I almost feel like no one remembers how the junk era crash happened. Cause this is exactly what happened.

Here's my thoughts on Mosaic and prizm moving forward. This can apply to optic too.

Panini is printing a LOT MORE retail. We will continue to see retail being overprinted.

with this in mind, given how expensive hobby now is, I can actually see print runs for hobby staying flat or only slightly rising. Thus, I think hobby actually is starting to become the better buy.
