Default Delivery lost in Canada - any experience?

Hello All,

I recently had a buyer purchase 4 PSA graded hockey cards via my eBay store through the global shipping program. I shipped the cards to the global shipping center located in Kentucky. It was then labeled up by eBay to its destination in Canada. I got a message from the buyer that the package was never delivered and it's lost. Never had this happen as a seller. Very frustrating obviously. Does eBay ever take care of the refund on a global shipping program package or will it fall back on me most likely as the seller? I shipped it to the global shipping center and it was delivered but now I'm likely out 4 cards totaling about $90 if I'm held responsible by eBay for the refund. Anyone had a positive outcome with eBay on this? Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

It does happen.

Over the last year four packages I've sent to the US have been deemed "lost" by USPS. Probably had something to do with covid but it still hurts right in the old derriere.

Perhaps ask the buyer contact their local PO?

I did message the buyer to see if they can contact their postal carrier or local facility. I'd be interested to know how a package goes from out for delivery to lost! Lol I did talk to an eBay representative and they said I should be protected since it was a global shipping program situation. I'll see if that ends up being true. I'm not hopeful considering how harshly eBay treats its sellers. I'll update as I get more information. Thanks for the post!

I had the same issue. I was refunded $50 by the USPS, but since I didn't get extra insurance, I had to cover the rest of the cost.

I'm hoping eBay protects global shipping program situations. This package was lost in Canada though so I'm not sure if the buyer can claim anything from their local carrier.

I don't have any experience, but I believe once a package is sent from Kentucky, the GSP (eBay) is responsible for all shipping and delivery issues.

I had a card delivered through ebays global shipping program and they must sub out deliveries to different companies because they left it on my front step. Luckily it didn't walk away now was is super expensive.

I shipped 4 psa cards (some 90 opc premier Psa 9s) that totalled about $90. For me it's a decent size order. I'd hate to lose that amount. But it sounds like eBay should cover the loss. Keeping my fingers crossed.

So for anyone curious to the final resolution:

The buyer opened up claims for the 4 cards stating that "item not received" earlier today. When that happened, I requested that Ebay call me via their customer service. I got a call very quickly from an ebay representative. I told them what happened. Originally the representative told me to issue refunds on the 4 cards to the buyer and then Ebay would reimburse me because the issue happened after the cards were shipped from the Global Shipping Center. So as a seller, you are protected when using the Global Shipping Program after the cards are shipped by Ebay from the Global shipping center. That was a pleasant surprise to know for sure. So I went into my resolution center to approve the refunds but I actually was unable to find any link to do that. I had kept the Ebay rep on the phone while I was searching and then they said they would take care of it on their end. The ebay rep said that they issued the refund to the buyer with a 'no fault of seller' indication I guess and my funds are all intact at this point. Originally they had put a hold on my funds for the amount of the refunds. So this turned out to be a positive outcome I believe for both the buyer and seller, although the cards are still out there somewhere 'lost'. If you're a seller, at least there is some hope for us when using the Global shipping program. Thanks for the posts and suggestions! Much appreciated!

You can also enter the tracking number on the Canada post website I think sometimes once the leave the USA there is less detail but on the Canada post website there is more info once the items arrive in Canada.

I may take a look at the more detailed information from the Canada Post website. Thanks for the suggestion. I am happy that Ebay was able to get the buyer their money back without hurting my finances. I still want to check the Canada post website for my own information.
