Default Josh Gordon

Josh Gordon has been reinstated again. My question is how many more chances should he get? I thought the last one should have been his last chance. How come athletes are not held to higher standards or same standards as a normal career type job. I mean as an educator I feel like I would not be able to find work for doing what he did one time.

He's been suspended six times since 2013.

Would rather have someone like Gordon in the league over someone like Hill etc.

I don't understand why people still care about this dude. He had one good season 7 years ago, and he will get suspended again eventually. Its wild how he manages to maintain relevance

Don't want either. Would rather have Corey Coleman who is a good WR who got a bad wrap for asking for a trade on television.

Why would athletes be held to a higher standard? (And before anyone says "it's a privilege to play professional sports," you're going to have to back up that statement. Professional sports leagues aren't operating entitlement programs.)

What has Gordon done that, if he were in a normal career, would bar him from that profession forever?

He has a DWI and a DUI. I was a recruiter for a major job placement firm and we would not interview a person with either of those. Teachers get let go for wither of those as well and can lose their license.

Would you interview them if there were only 50 other people on the planet that can do what they do?

It will always be ridiculous to compare athletes to regular life.

Guess what?

Find a nuclear physicist, where he's one of 50 people in the world that can do what he does, and he'll still have a job after a DUI

It's called reality.

As a teacher, I know this doesn't bar you from the profession. Even in the worst case scenario, one could still get their license in another state.

To act like a non-violent criminal conviction automatically disqualifies one from "normal career fields" forever is disingenuous. Especially not smoking weed.

I actully like your logic here.

Why is always bash the #@#@#@#@ out of Gordon, and never dude at least keeps trying. How many guys play victem (AB) or just say F it (Blackmon) after they get busted. To me, I root for Josh Gordon. While he keeps making mistakess, he seems like a guy who does have the intent to try and be a better person, but just fails at it constintly.

I can't stand Josh Gordon.

But I live in the real world.

It's why Mike Vick got a job. There are a handful of people on the planet that can do what he does (or did at the time)

We always pick out Athletes but it applies to all types of professions that we don't talk about on a daily basis. If you're at the top of your field? You get a lot more rope

Josh Gordon at his best is at the top of his field.

Not to mention if only 50 can do it, and 49 are already employed someplace else. The pool is even smaller.
Guess you'd have to look at how many free agents there are with that talent?

Valid point.

He might be the only person on the planet that can do what he does that doesn't already have a job.

He will not be a fantasy factor metcalf is the alpha and lockett is the 2. even david moore has looked good. The only reason josh gordon even gets chances at all is because he is cheap labor and has perceived nfl talent for the vet mininum. If josh gordon was a 10 million dollar a year wr there would be 0 nfl interest. Personally he did not do much with seattle last year anyways.

^ Right here.

And comparing teachers to pro athletes? Apples and Oranges. Perhaps it shouldn't be, but it is.

If someone thinks you make their team better, you'll get a look. Period.

I can’t wait to see him opposite Metcalf with Lockett in the slot.

The catches he had last year, if I recall, were KEY catches.
I think he's just an insurance policy if someone gets hurt.

Gordon and the Seahawks were notified Tuesday that the NFL determined the receiver had not satisfied the terms of his conditional reinstatement, another source told ESPN. That makes him ineligible to practice or play in games for the time being.

He should have already received a lifetime ban for not being able to decide which is better, weed or millions of dollars with which you can buy as much weed as you want in like 10 years.

It's our annual Josh Gordon has fallen off the wagon thread. So many people on BO are seemingly obsessed with a guy who had one good season 7 years ago. It's downright bizarre to me.

Now players can have both. Better stay away from testing positive for anabolic steroids though.
