As an Eagles fan, I'm excited. I have loved Carson, but he's been brutal to watch this season. He seems afraid to throw to anyone but his tight ends. Hurts was willing to go downfield.

I would wager Hurts does not finish the game or Saints win by 40. Apparently, Doug is being told to start Jalen because Doug knows he is not ready and I do not think Doug cares about saving his job. Which leads to no reason for Doug to start him.
From what I have heard from the Philly insiders is that Hurts has no idea yet on how to read a defense. He is going to be running a lot because right now his clock is set at 1 read, then run. I am not really rooting for the guy because I have no faith in him and I believe when he was drafted, our season was over at that point for many reasons. If he did go and ball out though, wow, that would prove many wrong in many categories. Otherwise as a Philly fan, I am looking forward to next year with a new coach and hopefully a new GM. Carson needs a new start one way or another. |

Love Jalen, but not even he can save this awful Eagles team.

I'm cautiously optimistic, but we'll see. He dropped in at least two balls during the Packers game that I haven't seen Wentz hit in ages. The throw down the sideline to Reagor throwing Ward open in the end zone.
The interception worried me as he straight up didn't see the guy sitting on the out route. Meanwhile, RIP my Wentz PC value :\ Although the Hurts prices right now are insane. Base prizm silver auto went for $570 today.

Wentz had -5 yards on the first four drives against the Seahawks. To say his performance was abysmal is an understatement. I am not quite sure Jalen Hurts could possibly do worse.

This organization is done for this year. Still don't understand why Doug has a job. That's the real shakeup Philly needs, the players do not believe in Doug, maybe never have. Howie also has to go even more than Doug, it is one thing being a bad coach, but bad upper management is even worst. |

Same here, although I do think the Saints D is also licking their chops right now lol.
I'll definitely be tuning in.

Happy to see him get a chance. Just too bad it's against that Saints defense

LCM has to be giddy with this news. But what would really send LCM over the edge is if they canned Dougie P.

If I had Jalen Hurts cards (wether from ripping or because I got them free as packaging from another card I bought)...I would be selling those said Hurts cards as fast as I possibly could!

I suppose a big reason they made the switch would be to see what they have with Hurts. Could be a possibility they target a QB in the draft if he lacks the moxy.
Howie Roseman’s restructuring is finally catching up with him, especially with a potential declining salary cap next year. $265 million on the books next year. Yikes. |

Hurts ran in college, he's no Kyler. I'm guessing he's benched at some point soon.

Technically, you are correct. However, all it takes is 3 really good games by Hurts to end the season and his cards will skyrocket and stay strong during the off season. This one is a flip of the coin.

Id take the guaranteed money right now. You have to know when to step away from the table, when you have the casino's money already in your pocket!

And Philly is a loyal football town. I'm sure lots of Hurts sales are for fans, whereas I believe most of the sales of Herbert's for the LA Chargers are for investors/flippers.

I definitely agree with stepping away with sure money. But, Jalen Hurts is definitely one where the gamble could equate to large rewards. To me, it's the fact he only gets a 3-4 game window that makes this appealing. It could easily go south and Wentz is back at QB but if he plays well in those games then from a hobby perspective his card booms up to Tua/Herbert/Burrow levels.

This is the smart decision. This is not saying to wentz you are gone you are awful etc but dude clearly just does not have it right now. I look at it as a baseball pitcher being pulled and told to rest a few weeks (i know mlb seasons are longer) and wentz can come back in 2021 and compete for the job (no one is taking that wentz contract). I honestly thing the smart thing for philly to do is draft a stud o lineman in round 1. I still think reagor might have a decent nfl future but it is clear jj whiteside is not going to pan out and was a howie roseman bust when he could have had metcalf or mclaurin. Even if hurts goes out there and throws some brutual picks he has to go out there and get reps anyways. The eagles are not winning the super bowl even if they did somehow win the nfc east so you may as well just evaluate hurts. More and more it seems the real genius in that super bowl victory was playing a defense matt patricia had a hand in and frank reich going against said defense. I never understood the wentz extension when he never had a 16 game season yet. These nfl franchises are fn stupid paying a non top 5 qb top of the line money. I would argue mahomes watson arod wilson are the only 4 deserving of top end money. I also think the money the rams paid goff was stupid.

Ugh. I listen to sports talk in Philadelphia, and there are still alot of delusional Wentz worshippers. I don't know what his problems are, but he is cooked right now. Maybe his knee and back injuries were just too much. Maybe he's too preoccupied with buying new baby furniture for his mansion. Either way, he is simply not good anymore. Accept it. They all want to run the Super Bowl winning coach out of town, but nothing is ever Wentz's fault. These are the same geniuses who worship Ben Simmons (with his infamous 1-point playoff game) and couldn't wait to get rid of Jimmy Butler last year. Brilliant.
