Default Is it time to start talking about Domantas Sabonis yet?

Looking real good so far. Averaging 22.4 pts, 11 Rebs and 7.2 Assists per game. Only 24 yrs old. Card prices are on the rise. Does he continue the rise to the next level?

Crazy that he is only 24 - being in Indiana and being a big man hurts his value for sure, but I still think he’s undervalued. Super fun to watch

This and that Harden trade will continue to haunt Presti’s career.

What do you mean?

The Thunder STOLE PG from the Pacers in that trade. It was talked about quite a bit on here. Pacers got trash in return. Just Oladipo and this trashy Sabonis kid.

Sabonis has been the best kept secret in the NBA for two years now, but not sure how much longer that will last with what he's doing this year.

His high energy makes him exciting to watch, and he's also pretty explosive for a big guy. See him posterize Joel Embiid here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9OCm70Qk3U

He's always been an excellent low-post scorer and rebound hunter with outstanding passing ability, especially for someone 6'11; but he's taken it to another level this year in a lot of ways, including expanding his range to the tune of a 53.8% 3pt%.

Great stat that nobody cares about: Sabonis led the NBA with 7 screen-assists per game last year and is averaging a ridiculous 9 per game so far this year. That's a great teammate.

Lots to like, especially with some pretty solid talent around him this year now that Oladipo is back. Still just 24 years old.

*Please excuse my excitement. Us Pacer fans haven't had much to be excited about the past few years with getting embarrassingly swept in the first round 3 of the last 4 seasons.

Though they have very different games, I look at Sabonis in a similar light as John Collins - extremely underrated young big men pretty much due to their team's having little fanfare. Wouldn't be surprised if both players are all-stars for the next 5+ years in the East, at the very least.

It's a funny thing in the hobby too. I seriously think Sabonis and Collins will be better players than Zion in the future, and right now, yet Zion's cards sell on a different planet than those 2 guys. I know he's more "exciting" but still, it's a crazy disparity.

We'll never know. Arvydas entered the NBA at 31 with 2 blown out legs.

Another game against the Knicks tonight should keep the train rolling along nicely.....32, 13 and 5 against them earlier this year.

I've moved past trying to wrap my head around this and just enjoying the profits on all my dollar-box cards. What a time.

You have psa 10 silver prizm rookies in your dollar box?

I'll take all of them for a buck!

Wasn't necessarily referring to PSA 10 prizm silvers, more just the long list of players selling for very large amounts that will be all but forgotten in 5-years.

Not saying Sabonis is not a good player, but what is his ceiling? I mean, $1400 can still buy some really nice Lebron or Luka RCs. To each his own I guess. Like I said, just enjoying the extra cash practically pouring out of my attic boxes

On a completely unrelated note, is Talen Horton-Tucker still a thing? Found some more while digging out my Isaiah Robys.

Sabonis was an all star last year at age 23, has gotten better every year of his career, and looks like he could end up being a more athletic version of Jokic.

Jokic still sells about 2-3x higher than Sabonis even after the recent rise, so I don't think we're even close to the ceiling yet. Also worth noting that Jokic's values are actively climbing with his dominant play too; so if he represents the ceiling for NBA bigs, it's rising higher as we speak.

I think one thing we've all learned this year - and really the past few years - is that whatever you think the ceiling is for a card, you're probably wrong. The key RCs of the top couple dozen players will always rise higher, and guys like Sabonis and Jokic and a bunch of other young rising stars will continue to follow that trend.

Fair point about Jokic. If he's a more athletic version of Jokic, I'll stand corrected.

I'd just say be careful with what we've "learned this year." I'm not one who thinks things will eventually revert back to the way they used to be, but I'm also not of the belief that the current market is the new norm. There's a lot of money flying around but $1400 for a not-so-rare RC is still a significant amount.

Pop 59 on that Sabonis silver.... In this day and age that's pretty low number.

Not saying I disagree with your assessment of pricing just that this card is more rare than you would think
