Checklist should drop tomorrow so says their Instagram account. That will help or hurt the buzz. Probably help.

Have 3 cases of various retail preordered at msrp. Seems that will be the way from the get go... It’s flagship Topps either way, people will buy it. It should become scarce, it will go up in price. We will bicker about that. We will move on.

Fair enough, that is definitely what I mean. It will “sell out” at various points in the year, and then miraculously come back into stock at a new and improved price - adjusted for all that lost inflation of course.

Yeah, my buzz is a minor headache of concern that I won’t be able to just rip a few packs of brand new baseball cards while I delightedly absorb the very first Spring Training broadcast. At least without going online to pay middlemen an extra slice for my fetish lottery tickets that will still depreciate to zero as soon as the wrapper is torn.

Say what you will about the much maligned 2020 Update product - I haven’t seen any of it on store shelves for 6 weeks now.

Looks like it will be a very Happy Anniversary set for Topps. For their customers that might remain to be seen.

Exactly, no idea why people think this will be "scarce" in any way. Hoarded and over-priced, most definitely. Wait until the hype dies down and buy lots when people need to pay their credit card bills.

Waiting till late summer yielded me a lot more than buying at release last year. I suspect this year will be similar.
The guys who don’t light the world on fire immediately should settle nicely in price. I’ll buy bums at release and guys who become bums in 6 months.

I realize hindsight is 20/20 but who in this 2020 rookie class has more pedigree than any of Alvarez/Bichette/Robert/Lewis/Lux? All of those guys were top-rated prospects and Alvarez and Bichette had shown superstar performance in the prior year's call-up.

I know 2020 is insanely deep but I don't see the FV60+ guys. This seems more like a Bowman Draft product where you just roll the dice on a bunch of players and hope that one or two pan out. But panning out doesn't mean hobby superstar.

This 2020 rookie class seems like it's going to have a lot of good players that make an All-Star game or two and are real-baseball good but hobby-meh. But because we HAVE to get excited about every year's top rookies we sort the list, find #1-#10, and then get just as excited about this year's #1 as we did about last year's #1 even though they could be playing on two different planets.

These current prices are absolutely mind-boggling.

Couldn't agree more. This 2021 class feels a lot like most S1 rookies. Very Meh!!! We've been conned into thinking that every Flagship release is great. 2018 Update, 2019 S2 (& Update?), 2020 S1 & S2 (Robert only). Topps has been able to spread the love over the 3 Flagship releases over the past few years. Thus giving the elusion that each release is of great value. But let's not forget that S1 is typically a not so great product. Don't let 2020 S1, determine your feelings for 2021 S1. 2020 S1 was an exception...not the norm.
