I have no idea how this will work but it's back.

To make the game happen, EA Sports partnered with collegiate licensing company CLC to make sure they had the FBS schools, traditions, uniforms and playbooks -- among other things -- ready to go for the game. Over 100 teams will be in the game.

For now, EA Sports is planning to move forward without rosters that include the names, images or likenesses of real college players. Current NCAA rules prohibit athletes from selling their NIL rights while in college.

However, those rules are likely to be changed at some point in the coming year -- either by the NCAA, state legislatures or Congress. It's not yet clear if the evolving rules will allow for the kind of group licensing arrangements that would be needed for EA Sports to negotiate with athletes to use their names in the game.

Holt said they will monitor the NIL discussion if and when things change, but it's too early for that to happen. He also said what happens in NIL legislation will not change whether the game happens or when it will end up on shelves.

"We'll just keep tabs on everything as it develops and we'll be ready," Holt said. "That won't be a problem for us. But it's really, that's not an answer for us right now to decide. We're as much passengers as anyone else.

"So we make sure we deliver what our college football game players would want in a game. And that starts with just a very immersive experience and there's lots of things we can do to bring the true college game play and game day to the virtual world."

Holt said EA Sports is still in the very beginning of the process of game development, building out the team and deciding what direction they want the game to go in. Conversations about bringing back the game began over a year ago, Holt said, and the combination of momentum of the company combined with the technology they've seen on Next Gen platforms like the Sony PS5 and XBox Series X further bolstered their decision to return to the space.

Back in 2015 (prior to the game getting nixed), EA was changing the name from NCAA Football 15 to College Football 15, so it isn't a surprise they are going with that name. They also locked up 100+ schools, stadiums, and playbooks, which is truly all that matters. I don't really care if they have the likeliness of the players or not since 2-3 years into a Dynasty, they are gone anyway. Plus, I always like starting off with a garbage team and working my way up to a "dream job".

Yes! Would much rather have a new Tiger game than a college football game.

$10 this is a continuation of their ****tty madden version of "Road to Glory". So in other words, nothing really new.

There is a 100% chance this game will be a disappointment, and there is a 100% chance I will buy it anyway.

EA Sport has put out the same terrible product yearly with only the most minor changes and updated rosters for the past 15+ years. They continue to so because people keep tossing huge amounts of money their way which tells them there is no reason to change anything. I don't blame EA I blame the consumer.

I agree with all this but the truth is, it’s clearly not as bad as people say it is. Otherwise they wouldn’t buy it. People complain just because they can. I’ve bought madden since 2012 and it’s really not as bad as people say.

And before someone references my post above, yes their road to glory sucks. That doesn’t mean the game sucks.

It could surely be better, but it’s good enough for me to continually play it

I love the people in this thread claiming to never give EA a penny for continuing to put out mediocre content while holding a monopoly over the sports gaming industry.

Please tell me someone else sees the irony as people pay whatever Panini tells them to pay for whatever horribly watered down product is released now.

Madden and NCAA/“college football” are not the same game. NCAA was worked on by its own game studio and group of developers and was MUCH better than madden was. Who knows if it’ll be the same this time around but it likely won’t be a copy paste of madden

It's not awful obviously. It's simply the same game year after year and has remained unchanged for nearly 15 years. The only focused improvements they ever manage to come up with is the cut scenes. The playability aspect has remained almost unchanged and is still fun to play against other people. It is what it is.

There is a whole psychological aspect to which many corporations ascribe to which simply states that much of the public only buys things they are familiar with. This is why many corporations avoid making any changes to their product lines. EA is very much a firm believer in this economic philosophy which keeps their product unchanged. In fact, much of the gaming industry follows this as well which is why the gaming industry basically rejects any progressive notions about advancing technology to something much better.

Unless they fix the ass gameplay, and make dynasty mode actually decent, it's gonna suck but I still want to bring *random 1 star school* to 20 straight National Championships

First off, in 15 years it has changed. It seems more gradual when you look at it year by year but let’s just name some big things over the last 15 years.

1) mut (for people who don’t play they don’t understand but this was a HUGE addition). I’ll admit they have been reusing content but Tbf I don’t know how you change up a lot of the content they use.

2) Xfactors. If you like then or not, this was something that didn’t exist before and is kinda big

3) RAC, POS, SPEC catches. Kind of a cool add which was implemented after Odells head catch

4) Running is a lot smoother.

5) Long shot also added college teams as of late

6) the yard

7) if you look over the time span, tackling is a lot better. It’s still unrealistic at certain angles but this use to be A LOT worse.

People are less likely to notice change when it’s gradual.

The only argument I could understand is graphics. But I think they are more worried about content over graphics since they know they make their money in the game modes not H2H or franchise

Gonna hammer the hell out of my best friend with ball control option up and down the field while he throws pointless hail marys at least once per possession. Just like in our 20s.

I think you have made an assumption that these people (me) are buying Panini products.
