Default 1990 Leaf Frank Thomas RC - Could it be the next card to pop??

Just sayin’ as these other iconic cards have begun a meteoric rise, possibly keep an eye out for the 1990 Leaf Frank Thomas RC cards. Just my opinion, but they could be due for a run

I have some raw ones and a sealed box of 1990 Leaf Series 2. Not too invested, but hey you never know

I just bought a 1990 Fleer Juan Uribe for $10,000. I’m retiring with this card!

It went for $100 to $400 then died down pretty quickly thereafter. Definitely didn't have the legs of some of the others.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least if it hit four figures. At the rate 80's and early 90's cards are climbing, when the 84 Topps Mattingly hits $2K overnight, nothing shocks me anymore.

I mean my observation is around the iconic cards of the 80’s and 90’s and how the value has appreciate at an accelerated rate. The 1990 Leaf Frank Thomas is indeed in that category....

I have a BGS 9.5 that I pulled from a box myself. I also have a PSA 8.5 that I think needs a regrade.

I've been a frank fan since the 90s, would love to see his cards rise!

I went to COMC and picked up two PSA 9's for $40 each. I completely forgot about this card and always wanted to own it. I wasn't missing out.

I kept my original pack pulled 1990 Leaf RC in the top loader and sent it in to BGS about 5 years ago. Its the only BGS 10 I've ever received and it's one of my favorite cards in my collection.

Hope nobody minds me posting a scan...

This card has not increased in value compared to all the other cards. Pop reports are pretty high, but half of the 1989 Griffey UD. The prices on the cards have not kept up with the times if you look at the price history. Once people realize this the prices will boom.

Once PSA 10 prices explode, the PSA 9's slowly climb. The PSA 10 doubled in price in the last month. The PSA 9's have not moved since the beginning of COVID. The PSA 9 will be an $80 card in a week or two IMO. This is how the trends have been going.

I am a physicist and I love to look at data. With the recent boom in PSA 10's I think the best buy right now is PSA 9's. You could buy one PSA 10 for about $400 right now, which I think is still a great deal right now. However, because of the lag in prices between 9's and 10's I think buying 10 PSA 9's at $400 will give higher percentage returns.

I like Frank Thomas but he just never quite attained iconic status in the hobby. Always second fiddle to Griffey then overshadowed by guys like Pujols later on. The 90 Leaf is a great blue chip type card though. I used to have a couple BGS 9.5 versions and should probably pick one up again at some point.

The steroid era killed his legacy. If the Big Hurt was clean he would have gone down as one of the all time greats. Looking at his stats it is exactly how a clean superstar would have accumulated stats. He never hit above 43 homeruns in a season and ended up with 521 HR's and a .301 career BA. The cheaters like Bonds, Gonzalez, Big Mac, Sosa, etc... killed his legacy.

To be fair this card is below market value. The forums are only a small percentage of people who collect. However, once prices climb it is over. The PSA 10 will be $600 by the end of the week and the PSA 9 will be $70. That is my prediction.

Dang it. I was thinking the same thing, but being quiet about it until I picked one up. I'm working on picking up graded cards of HOFs elected by the writers starting in 1999. The past few weeks have seen projected costs rise quite a bit for the cards I still need.
