Default My Sir Charles Auto has Arrived.

Hate Mosaic but whatever, bought a Sir Charles Mosaic Auto redemption a while back before the BOOM- think I paid around $80.

It was Sir Charles on the 76ers, and being a 41 year old man, and Charles disappointing me at every supposed 76ers camp appearance or mall signing as an 8 to 14 year old... when in retrospect it was because he was in Vegas or awaiting a gun charge in New Jersey... I needed closure. I needed a Sir Charles auto in a 76ers uniform!

Card arrived today and I f'n love it. Many people dismiss sticker autos, but this sticker auto is from Sir Charles, my childhood hero! Non-ironically, I love this card all the more because its Charles in the worst 76ers uniform of all time, AND when he changed his number from 34 to 32.

Whoever curated the Mosaic set, though massively overproduced, had a great sense of humor. Love this card! Love you all too!

That's an awesome card! Congrats on the pick up. I still need a Barkley Auto for my collection.

I have a different one pending — guy said he scratched it but didn’t use it so it went cheaper...hoping that comes in sooner rather than later

That's a great looking card. Sir Charles in the better looking 76ers Uni, wearing # 34, just the auto is a bit off the sticker.

Have lots of 76ers and other cards I'd trade for that if you are up for a trade!

Best,

J

Wonderful card and context to go with it. White looks real good on those mosaics.

They wore them from 1991 - 1994.

Regarding the change in number from #34 to #32 - found the following:

"The 1991–92 season was Barkley's final year in Philadelphia. In his last season, he wore number 32 instead of his 34 to honor Magic Johnson, who had announced prior to the start of the season that he was HIV-positive. Although the 76ers initially retired the number 32 in honor of Billy Cunningham, it was unretired for Barkley to wear. Following Johnson's announcement, Barkley also apologized for having made light of his condition. Responding to concerns that players may contract HIV by contact with Johnson, Barkley stated, "We're just playing basketball. It's not like we're going out to have unprotected sex with Magic."

Congrats!

Makes me wonder if my Optic Purple, which was released months before Mosaic, will ever be fulfilled.

Funny enough I actually loved those uniforms. Not a sixers fans but I've always liked those.

We are the same age. I met Charles at Sixers camp in the Poconos when I was 12. Still have the hat he signed. I'll give you $5 if you can guess who signed right next to him.

I think I still have the newspaper article announcing his trade. Still makes me mad.

I actually loved those Jerseys too!

I am in the I hate sticker autos camp but for some reason this one doesn't bother me - this is just a great looking card - very well designed and a nice autograph all on sticker - congrats OP!

My guess would be Ron Anderson.

Better story would be if it was Mahorn. Half the kids at camp had the Barkley / Mahorn shirts where they were like bobbleheads... I forget what they were called. It was like the Canseco/McGwire "Bash Brothers" but .. it's escaping me, and I'm not going to take the easy way out and google it..

Loved that squad. I actually have a pretty decent Hersey Hawkins PC. He was a way underrated shooter. For a career he shot close to 40% from 3-point range.

Yeah, the sticker here works fine. In my opinion, it's because it blends into the card design. Stickers that are framed or on a background like the white one here make them subtle. Most of the time, though, stickers are just slapped on and stick out like a sore thumb. Not sure if Panini intended it this way, but thankfully OP just gets to enjoy a well designed, beautiful autographed card!

I'm guessing they just recently got a ton of stickers in from Charles and are pumping the sticker autos out.

The Optics are on-card, right? That might be the delay.

None of the above. Andre Turner. Barely played 1 season with the Sixers.

A friend has Hawkins in his all time top 5 hahaha.
