So with the unreal price explosion of worthless modern bass I’ve decided to start refocusing my collection on Cavs and vintage PSA basketball. One of the sets I’ve been researching is the 72 Icee Bear set.
Based on the limited research I’ve done these were printed on really flimsy stock and not super widely distributed (not positive about this piece). I looked at the pop report and most of what’s graded is 8 or better. The Kareem for example has 542 total graded and 311 9s which seems absurdly high. Is there a particular reason for the weirdly high pop numbers for this set?

Probably a find of the original boxes from the manufacturer, sometimes called New Old Stock (NOS).
If you look at the Auction Prices Realized page for the card and sort by Cert number, you can see that there were plenty from this set submitted back around Cert #03616575 - 03616701. Looks like maybe 125+ of the same card submitted in the same batch. Last edited by mjohnatgt; 02-06-2021 at 09:24 PM. |
