Default Patrick Mahomes is Brett Favre 2.0

You’re gonna laugh but he is, Favre made it back to back SBs and won the first one and lost the 2nd. In the modern day NFL Favre would be Mahomes, he could throw the ball harder than anyone in the 90’s and had a lot of TD’s in a less pass happy era. Tampa figured out how to play Mahomes in this game and lot of teams probably will copy them. Don’t be shocked if Mahomes has close to 15-18 picks next year and KC finishes 3rd in their division. Lot of cap problems coming for KC soon and I remember people were saying Favre would be back in the SB after his defeat and he never made it back.

How many Super Bowl MVP’s does Favre have? If the answer is 1 then you have a valid point, I will let you google it.

He does not have one, he beat the Pats and lost to Denver the following year.

Mahomes should have never been SB MVP last year, he had the lowest rating for a MVP. It should have been Williams.

So what you're saying is Mahomes will be a HOF and top 10 QB? That's a sound investment.

At the end of the day, who knows? As a Colts fan, I always thought Peyton would get to 10, but obviously 4 was the number with 2 wins. It's so insanely hard to get there, which is why Brady doing what he's done is so incredibly ridiculous.

If I had to bet money, I'd say he gets to 3-4 more with another 2 wins. Guys will keep entering the league that are amazing high level NFL quarterbacks, hell there's several coming this year that could fit that description. This is gonna make it more and more challenging. I'll say it right now, Trevor Lawrence will be a better NFL QB than Mahomes, and on a team with FAR less talent. Mahomes got that sh*t gift wrapped. There's 2 guys coming next year in Sam Howell and Kedon Slovis that are really elite talents, probably go 1 and 2 overall. My point is, the competition isn't gonna get any worse, in fact I'd argue it gets better.

Will you voluntarily leave the board when this doesn't happen?

You see what Favre’s stuff sells for compared to the other guys, peanuts. He’s the third QB in Packers lore behind Starr and Rodgers.

I like the comparison mwash. Many people are just assuming Mahomes is going to play in the Super bowl five or six more times. Reid could retire next year, key pieces are lost to free agency, get a bad draft or a combination of any of them. The team is going to be drastically different in say four years. Will it still be good? Even Brady went a stretch without making a Super Bowl.

Mahomes does have a lot of that Favre gunslinger in him. The one difference in his favor is that Mahomes doesn't turn the ball over as much. As far as the Favre MVP, for some reason it went to a kick returner that year. I probably would have give it to Reggie White, but still a kick returner?

Favre has better numbers outside of passer rating across the board than Rodgers and has been to one more Super Bowl. How is the lesser player more revered?

Easy. Rodgers hasn't left to go play for a division rival.

Also, Favre had thrown 184 more interceptions compared to Rodgers through 16 seasons of play (171 more interceptions if you factor in the 2013 & 2017 extrapolated numbers if Rodgers had finished the seasons).

Rodgers has accumulated his numbers through 13 NFL seasons (really 12 seasons with missing significant time in 2013 & 2017).

The same reason Shaq doesn't command Top 10 all-time money. It's not a monochromatic color-by-numbers system where they're payed monetary-reverance in the order of their importance. Mainly, because importance is an entirely subjective term.

Until I hear about Mahomes breaking the fingers of his receivers because he's throwing so hard, or playing over 200 games straight, let's just call him Favre 0.7

If Mahomes ends up like Brett Favre that would be quite the career.

That's the question right? I mean, how long does it take to determine something like that? It has to be years.

In a hobby sense it would be considered a disappointment.

Ah yes, every team will have an elite pass rush against a crippled O-Line and stifle the leagues best QB.

Lmao - these 'Tbay showed the blueprint' takes are braindead.

Maybe? Maybe not?

The landscape has changed.

If Favre had NT RPAs, Contenders Autos, and Prizm RCs I suspect his rookie cards would be a bit pricier.

By that logic Eli Manning has 2 SB MVPs... both against Tom Brady. So that must mean Eli is the GOAT

Sorry but this is a ridiculous statement. Mahomes will be one of top quarterbacks every year and will be in a position to play for many more Super Bowls. His turf toe was really bad and needs surgery. Many of his passes yesterday should have been caught. The guy is still elite and will be for many years since he is 25. O Line was almost all reserves and he had no time. He still made things happen with no O Line and limping on one foot. He is still the future of the NFL!

I think a more interesting comparison could be John Elway. He made 3 Super Bowls in his first 7 years (although he lost all 3), and ultimately finished 2-3 in Super Bowls.

I could see a similar trajectory for Mahomes... and if that's where his career ends up, his cards will tank

It's like people instantly forget how good Mahomes is.

Trevor Lawrence is most likely going to be a Matt Ryan-esque player, and there's nothing wrong with that. He's being drafted number 1 overall for his high floor. Sam Howell and Kedon Slovis, come on, you're being silly.
