Without getting into too many details at this moment I am looking for a bit of advice as this is my first time of something like this happening.
Basically a week ago I bought a Soto on the cheaper side through a buy it now price and just got a message today that out of all the cards he dropped at the post office that just so happens to be the one that the PO lost. A label was created the day of the sale and the only other action on the tracking info is that the post office is awaiting item. He admitted to selling the card cheap for a quick sale but is saying he is going to refund my money before it turns into a S show and doesn't want a bad mark on his eBay rating. He just asks that if the card does happen to arrive somehow out of good faith pay him back. Now I did send a message expressing my understanding of PO delays and have no problem waiting a bit longer. I understand accidents do happen. I also expressed this sounds a bit like sellers remorse and will take the proper steps through eBay to resolve the matter. My question is I noticed he has yet to leave me feedback on this card. I to have a 100% feedback rating and don't want this seller out of spite give me a mark even though I paid him 2 seconds after Buy It Now if I do give him a neutral or negative feedback. What would you do in this situation? I want to believe he is telling me the truth yet I find it fishy this happens to be the only card the PO lost of his that also happened to be sold on the cheap side. Thank You |

A) Seller's can't leave negative feedback for buyers, not possible
B) Seller's can leave negative statements in a positive feedback, which is against eBay policy, so you can report them if it happens (he/she will get an account black mark and you'll get the comment removed) I've had packages I've dropped off at the PO not show as scanned in for days, and on a few rare occasions, weeks. Tell him you are prepared to wait it out... and no refund necessary for at least 21 days... at which time you can revisit if it doesn't arrive. If it doesn't arrive, let alone scan in anywhere, during that time... yeah, almost certain he's screwing you over... in which case, get your refund and leave them a negative... they earned it! If you're feeling nice though, leave a neutral... but don't ever just let them off the hook for free! |

Not much you can do. Tell him that if the card shows back up that you still want it and will rebuy it at the original auction price. That will atleast keep him from relisting it a the higher price.
I am also pretty sure a seller can not leave negative feedback.

Thanks on the info guys. I was not aware a seller can't leave negative feedback so that is at least good. Yes I am more than willing to wait it out and it is a graded card so I do have the serial of the card and will be easy to tell if he tries to relist it.

What is the timestamp of the printed label? In todays USPS not accepting and no updates is common until the day of delivery. I would wait a minimum of 2 weeks...

He claims to have contacted the PO and they claim they never got it as it was never scanned on their end. I told him I will wait two more weeks which would be a total of three weeks before asking for a refund.
