Default Jim Lee X-Men Artist's Edition

I just got an email about Jim Lee's X-Men Artist Edition being available at noon. IDWs website was basically down immediately due to the traffic, and by the time I could add one to my cart it was gone.

Hopefully others that wanted one were lucky enough to get it.

My question - The signed and numbered version can be added to your cart, but then says there are 0 left and you cannot checkout.

The normal edition says "Out of Stock" - anyone know if those were available and sold out as well, or have not been released yet? The email seemed to indicate only the S&N version was available at noon, but I couldn't get the site working for half an hour until traffic calmed down.

I'm tempted. It looks cool, but $300...

You can still order the limited signed/numbered edition, although I don't see where the print run is...

Honestly, this is probably a smart investment in the long run..

Thank you! Maybe the original purchases were bots and they deleted some orders or something.

The email I received says they are limited to 175.

I was able to purchase one just now.

For any not familiar, they contain scans of Jim Lee's original pencils at their original size. I believe this book is 12"x17". I have a number of these editions and they are HUGE!

No one really knows but I'd bet against this being a smart investment. $300 is a lot for whatever this is and most people A) won't know about it and B) not really be that interested in paying for it since its not a regular format comic or piece or art.

Well, I actually do know a bit about these and they are highly sought after collectibles. Smaller group of buyers, but some of these can go for big money. You'd have to be patient to "flip" one. Just wasn't a good time for me to spend the money, but gratz to those that got one.

The first Wally Wood EC Artist's Edition sells for $600-800 currently.
And, others in the series have appreciated as well. The limited s/n editions are especially hard to find.

Best for personal collections and long-term investment, though.

Signed edition already selling for $750+

Jim Lee’s run on X-Men was iconic and, for 90s kids like myself, the catalyst that got me into comics in the first place. Far more relevant for today’s collectors than Wally Wood and EC (although I love Wood’s work!)
