Default Calling it Now, Bucs Will Repeat **Official 2021 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Season Thread**

Well the first Key Free Agent is secured. Chris Godwin gets the Franchise Tag.

Now let's secure Lavonte David and Shaq Barrett!

@RapSheet
The #Bucs are keeping one of their own: Tampa Bay has agreed to terms with star LB Lavonte David on a 2-year contract extension worth $25M, sources say. On the brink of free agency, David stays home.

@MikeGarafolo
It’ll be a five-year deal with three voidable years for LB Lavonte David that keeps his cap number at a manageable $3.5 million for the #Buccaneers this year. Voidable years are all the rage this year as teams maneuver around the cap decrease.

Nice!

That's 2 down with 1 more to go

Although it would be nice to keep Shaq, I don't know if it's financially possible.

Fingers crossed...

Excellent start. Keep rhe championship window open as long as you can. These opportunities don't come around often.

Can't wait to fly down and see Brady play this year!

I still think the Patriots letting Brady leave is as bad as the Chicago Bulls not listening to Jordan and allowing him and Phil Jackson to walk.

I’m hoping everything is opened up this season. I very much want to get out to Foxboro to see Bucs VS Patriots.

I'll be the first to admit that I really don't understand the ins and outs of contracts, what counts against the cap and what doesn't. That being said I've read that the guys that do that work for the Bucs have done a wonderful job making sure the Bucs don't eventually end up in cap hell.

If anyone can find a way to make it work so we are able to bring back Godwin, David and Shaq, these are the guys to do it. No reason not to go all in for however long Brady is around.

@RapSheet
The #Bucs have agreed to terms on a 1-year extension for QB Tom Brady, sources say, one that gives the Super Bowl champs some cap room and locks Brady in 2022.

@AdamSchefter
Tom Brady reached agreement with the Buccaneers today on a four-year contract extension that voids to a one-year extension that locks him into Tampa through the 2022 season, sources tell ESPN.

@AdamSchefter
The Tom-Brady extension saves the Buccaneers $19 million against the cap this year, per sources. The additional voidable years are there to defray the cost. It was another effort from Brady to keep as much of the team together as possible.

Brady doing Brady things. I had a feeling Shaq was coming back, but I assume this pretty much seals it.

Great news on so many levels. This is pretty much the money needed to bring back Shaq.

Clutch deals by this front office. Brady with the voidable years saves 19 million against the cap, which is basically what it costs to bring Shaq. Bring back Shaq, make some changes with the lower part of the roster, bring in a good draft class and lets get ready to roll

I know this front office has taken a lot of heat, but their strategy has worked to perfection in regards to the salary cap. For the longest time, they refused to do deals that would cause dead money in the future. They've always been towards the bottom of the league in dead money owed. Most years they've owed like 1-2 million in dead money which is incredible. Most other teams have a much larger amount of dead money. It kept the books clean for the future, and now that they have a window, all of these deals have voidable years for dead money in the future. Yeah 2025 won't look pretty but it doesn't matter. You go for it now. 2 years left with Brady, I don't see why we can't make another couple of runs deep in the playoffs.

Kept the books clean and when the opportunity is provided, use dead money to keep as much of this roster together as possible.

Also this includes the Lavonte deal, it's a 2 year deal with 3 extra voidable years. So he only counts 3.5 million against the cap this year versus the 11-12 he would have with the contract he signed if it didn't have voidable years.

In regards to the other free agents, I fully believe Shaq will be back.

I don't think Suh will be back, I honestly think he retires. Go out on top

I think Lenny will be gone as well, unless he takes a super team friendly deal, but I think he rides this momentum into a 7-8 million dollar deal for another team. Which I am totally fine with, let Rojo run back there, bring in a veteran presence for cheap to catch passes and let Vaughn develop.

AB I think comes back, on a cheap deal.

Gronk obviously resigns

Succop resigns as well, hopefully on a cheap deal

I think to get everything done, they'd need to restructure a little for Evans and Brate
