Default So It finally happened to me....FedEx!

I've read the stories about "lost packages" from all of the shipping companies. I was hopeful that I'd never have to deal with it, but I think it finally happened.

I found a nice, raw Lebron Topps 221. Sent it to PSA last Monday with two-day express shipping through FedEx. It has been sitting in Memphis with no updates since Wednesday 3/17 @ 7:30 AM. Called yesterday and they simply regurgitated the same details on the website.

It is insured for $2k, but obviously I really want the card. I'm hopeful that there is some delay that will be resolved this week.

My question for those who have had this unfortunate experience, how do you know when a package is officially lost and when do you file a claim? The woman I spoke with yesterday said I have 90 days from the time it was shipped to file a claim. Fingers crossed it finds its way to CA.

I've had 2 day stuff take a month to get scanned at all. I'd wait a little longer. I'm sure it'll show up

I bought a Trout Diamond from a buddy last summer shipped FedEx, got stuck in Memphis and was never found. He had his cards insured and was paid for the value of the transaction and then refunded me.

Good luck! I hope they find your package.

This is why I'm nervous anytime I ship to PSA or BGS. People know whats in those packages going to PSA and there are A Lot of shady people in this world. Sometimes I wonder if all Fed-Ex employees can see how much insurance is on a package. If so makes it a lot easier to know which ones to "lose"

I never insure my packages other than the complimentary $100 from FedEx. My home insurance policy covers up to 250k in lost/stolen property. Just need to have proper documentation. Home owners check your policy.

This is why I use a third party that is the name of a person and not Sportscards or PSA

You should never insure package, it unfortunately gets the wrong kind of attention...

Fedex overnight with no insurance is the way....

Definitely check to make sure that applies to sports cards. Policies often times have certain limits on loss/theft of items like cash, gift cards, sports cards, jewelry, etc. No amount of documentation will override a built in policy limit.

So, you just address it to a random name but still have the proper street address, city, state, and zip so it will still get to the right place? That doesn't cause any issue by putting in some random name that is not at that address?

I struggle with this. Seems like a catch-22. I think it's worth putting at least some insurance on a high dollar package so you're at least not out all of it in a high dollar scenario. I just did FedEx 2-day and added insurance for the first time. I normally don't but this was a much higher dollar submission to PWCC.

When it comes to collectibles first off you need to have a separate insurance policy on it. Also even if you have that policy in place it will not protect you when you are mailing a card to someone. You better check your insurance policy because you may get a big surprise if you ever lose a package.

Hey that is your shout, but to me - as someone who runs a retail business and is sending and receiving multiple valuable packages each day via the major curier companies on a daily basis - this is back to front.

The last time I looked FedEx deals with circa five / six million packages a day. The risk of your package getting attention from an unscrupulous employee who is aware of the sportscard market, is dramatically less than it simply getting lost/damaged in the sheer volume of packages handled each day.

But as I say, that is your shout. I am of the opposite view. Insure it fully to cover my financial risk.

Correct it’s already been confirmed. When I sent my Champ Ticket 2 years ago to PSA I had clearance from my policy holder that it was insured by them for 250k and at the time that was the market value so I felt good shipping it.

As much as I hate USPS for inept tracking, their shipping is 100% success for me to PSA, BGS, or CGC.

I wouldn’t trust a $1 card with the USPS!

This is just my opinion but I feel like a USPS employee is less likely to rip you off versus a fedex employee. I’ve worked with many different workers from both and most of the fedex people seemed like scumbags lol.

I insure through a third party so Fedex/UPS/etc would have no way to know it's insured. I use shipsurance. Works well, you just have to pay attention to their exclusions.

I went thru the same thing so I don't think you have anything to worry about. I sent my package as a 2 day as well on Feb 15th and it sat in Memphis without any updates for days. Finally on Feb 24, both Fedex and PSA confirmed delivery of the cards.

It disappeared because you put insurance on it. When you slap an insurance label on a package you are telling everyone who comes into contact with it that there is something valuable inside. Never insure anything. When you mail packages you want them to blend in with all the other packages, not stand out.

But then, if it does get lost, you're completely screwed with no insurance.

They stole a package of graded cards coming back to me from BGS. I will never use Fed Ex again!
