Default DMV (Dc, MD, VA) Retail chase hobbyist group

I figured I'd open this thread in hopes of getting everyone in this forum that lives in the DC, MD and VA areas and that are looking for retail packs to come together and help each other out. I am tired of randomly going to some Targets and or Walmarts and constantly seeing the empty shelves. I don't have time to constantly check inventory multiple times a week or even a day like I've been told. This is why I decided maybe bringing a few of us together and helping each other out would be the best way to increase our chances at some retail, especially the way hobby boxes are getting unaffordable (4.5k for Prizm Bball?? Isn't that supposed to be National Treasues pricing? Like what?!?).
I was thinking if any of us happen to see some stock in our DMV region to share that info here. I mean they are limiting how much you can buy so might as well share that info with your Blowout family no? I will be doing that, if I can come across some retail. I will go ahead and share info regarding football and baseball too but my focus will be Bball. Idk, what do you guys think? Is there any interest in this?

Nice idea good luck though I have only seen a single prizm draft baseball baster in , Walmart and Meijer by me (ohio) since Jan of 2020 at least BEFORE COVID explosion.

Other than that I did manage to somehow find a single optic day pack at a rite aid the other day. Surprised anyone left it

I haven’t even seen cards at a Nova Walgreens the past 2 years, haven’t seen Prizm football or basketball since 2019.

Wait so Rite Aid sells cards? I had no idea. Is walgreens owned by the same as peeps as Rite Aid? They have similar lay outs and there is one next to my house.

I think Walgreens bought half of the RiteAid stores a few years ago (mainly in the east). The other half went to Albertsons.

Nice to see some interest in this. Apparently I just learned Big Lots apparently does as well, or some of them at least? Also, I saw a YouTube vid of someone going to the help desk at a Target because the manager decided to put the cards in the back to avoid people fighting or taking more than the allowed amount of cards? I might try asking. Let me know if you guys have any luck in these places

They have them In the front by register I normally only see fairfield repacks but there was a 2020 optic hanger instead there

Never seen them at Big lots but doesn't surprise me if it's a new thing this really does remind me of the early 90s on terms of influx in"investors" buying up all the product

BigLots have had cards for a while. I remember checking for random 2018 Update packs there back in November 2019.

This is a great idea and I hope you guys (and gals) do well. I would say the same about the Bay Area but unfortunately the sneaker heads has turned the Bay Area group for their own cesspool. I’m happy that collectors are helping each other out.

I go to the Targets in Germantown, Gaithersburg, and Rockville pretty regularly...almost always nothing. Best I did was some Prizm Basketball Draft when they came out. Germantown Walmart never had anything anymore. Although I did see some empty display boxes of Mosaic Football at one point. I think you have to get there on the right day, when the store opens. If you don't make that level of commitment, you're not going to find anything. At least in this area.

I wonder if we can find alternate locations other than Walmart and Target that has SOME consistent stock of cards without having to deal with lines. I haven't had any luck finding anything at nearby dollar tree, Walgreens and Big Lot... have any of you tried those other places recently?

I live in a suburb of Baltimore and can tell you there is nothing to be found in a 100 mile radius around here unless you belong to what we call the "Latino Card Mafia". There are a couple groups of guys that follow the stockers around every day and buy most, if not all of it up and then sell it to a couple hobby stores who then mark it up for an even higher price. I gave up about 3 months ago - these groups of 6 guys do it as their daily jobs. Now this is confined to Wal Marts & Targets, the other places, I guess, can be hit or miss, but I've never seen new stuff at any of the other stores mentioned except Dollar Tree and that was only Donruss football. Good Luck, I would love to be a part of it, but just don't see it happening. Even some of the Targets put it behind the customer service counter and limit 2 boxes, but when you have 6 guys, the stuff is gone right away. They leave the store and come right back in again and stand in line for 2 more. I think it is now the same for Pokemon too. The only thing that can be found is hockey.

I got super lucky one day probably about 3 weeks ago. Full stocked target in Canton, even had a little bit of optic. Mostly untouched. Was able to get a couple packs and boxes to rip. Since then I haven’t seen it stocked with anything. I think the snow from earlier in the week threw off the timing because I’ve never seen it that full

I ran into one of the venders at the Target on Richmond Highway and he said he has a list of people he let’s know when things are being stocked.. I said #@#@#@#@ it and have given up on looking because what he was stocking was crap, it was like 4 boxes of donruss factory sets felt very weird IMO. As long as those guys are stocking it they are hooking up their friends or letting them know

Nice grab, I try to stay out of the city, but I realize that is a safer part of it.

I live in Southern MD. Our local WalMart had 12 middle-aged white dudes waiting in line last Friday... LOL. That's pretty much my demographic too. But I thought it was funny nonetheless. They only left some Topps Series 1. Two guys wait for the doors to open to stand in line. And the distributor was told she had to stop texting customers letting them know when she'd be there. That doesn't matter.

In all seriousness, if you want a chance, your best bet is to kindly approach store managers and tell them what's going on, kids can't get any, and many WalMarts and Targets are limiting purchases. It will sell out nonetheless. So they shouldn't be concerned about that. Maybe see if they'll listen. Beyond that, you have no chance unless you want to stand in that line.

Well at least we can all drive to Blowout Cards in Chantilly and pay 20x for blaster boxes, hangers, and rack packs. Everyone should be so lucky...

Shh but yes. I found 12 optic football packs 2 weekends ago, a prizm football pack at another.

At Walgreens, I picked up 2 Hoops fat packs

$9.99 for the football, $5.50 for the Bball

Big lots is the best & fastest way to find retail packs...any city and the little toy cart gets stocked once a month.
Last time I checked they had 2020 S1 & Heritage combo packs & 2020 score FB fat packs.
$5 for the dual packs & $7 for jumbos.
