Exclamation eBay scammer alert – Michael Jordan prisms

Hey all,

Longtime lurker and first time poster. Since I've been enjoying these forums for so long, I thought I'd start off my participating by trying to help out some fellow collectors.

There's a scammer who has been printing homemade bootleg Michael Jordan prism sticker cards and passing them off as "extremely rare". I've already seen several of these auctions go for tragically high prices, which is a shame, as these new sticker cards were printed by a service for practically nothing. One dead giveaway is the scoring on the back of the cards which one of the current sticker printing services does with all of their stickers. That was never a thing on vintage prism sticker cards (ie: the ones that are actually rare). The other dead giveaway is the stolen modern art.

The person who printed these has been caught doing this in the past, and typically scours the web for photos and/or illustrations that they can steal and create these unauthorized homemade sticker cards with.

Here's an example:
ebay.com/itm/373512049403

A quick search on the internet and you'll see that they stole the Michael Jordan illustration for this one from Artist Lazuardi Ariesta. Here's the original piece:
https://www.pinterest.ca/pin/816136763692615207/

Looks familiar, right? Well, one recently sold for $850. Yikes.

Here's an alternate design that recently sold several times:
ebay.com/itm/373479502901

And here's the illustration that was stolen to create it:
https://www.pinterest.com/pin/693343305126996309/

And here's yet another alternate one that recently sold for over $1000. Yikes.
ebay.com/itm/124569689838

IMPORTANT NOTE: I'm not sure this seller knows that these stickers aren't legit, as the original account that printed them and was selling them on eBay hasn't been around recently. This seller does have some legit vintage cards, so it's entirely possible they purchased these stickers not knowing they were homemade bootlegs. That said, I do find it suspicious that they've been selling multiples of the same sticker. Either way, I hate to see anybody purchasing these for hundreds of dollars, when they're made with stolen artwork and being passed off as "extremely rare".

Suffice it to say, buyer beware. None of the aforementioned sticker cards are rare or legit. They're cheap bootlegged sticker cards made with an online printing service. I hope this helps in case any of you were thinking of purchasing these stickers.

Exactly.

And I'm not sure why some of those links aren't working, but if you copy the item ID, you can look them up on eBay and see what I mean.

EDIT: Okay, got the links working properly.

Just noticed there was also a bootlegged Luka Doncic sticker card being passed off as "rare" as well:
ebay.com/itm/373484514076

And here's the piece by Andy Art that it was stolen from:

Here's a a new Jordan sticker being passed off as a vintage vending sticker card from 1986 that I hope is obvious to anybody:
ebay.com/itm/233983916842

No such sticker ever existed, and if you look closely at it, it's clearly just a modern rip-off made in hopes of scamming collectors. I hate seeing how many of these are popping up in recent times.

The big issue here is they are stealing other people’s art for their own gain. If this was an artist selling stickers they made and calling it rare then that’s fine with me.

Looks our volunteer firefighter friend received a roll of vinyl for easter and went brazy. Bless God.
