Default I bought packs at target...

On Friday I saw retail packs in store for the first time in at least 6 months.

There was a wait of over an hour. I think the real holdup is that it was being stocked but still it was a silly operation. They were taking people’s phone numbers and letting them in one at a time to pick their 3 items.

It’s now 2 days later. I’m a little curious to go back and see if they’re still stocked. I’m not a flipper, I just like to buy a couple packs when I shop...in 2019, that got me a pretty decent collection and I never bought more than a couple blasters at a time.

I’m actually in favor of the 3 item limit. It’s nice to actually see some cards in store for once. I don’t love the system that led to a 1 hour wait. It didn’t help that the dude who was manning it was obviously a complete moron. I had been shopping with family an hour and I hadn’t been called yet, so I went over to ask if there’s an eta. He looked at the list on his phone and looked all confused and said he had no way of telling how long, hopefully less than an hour. A bit irked, we took off. I get in my car and before even getting out of the parking lot I get the text that it’s my turn. You seriously couldn’t tell me I was 3rd on the list?

Are you guys finding your stores that carry cards doing something similar or is it still pretty slim pickings out there?

thats the giant Target restock thread, lots of funny and not so funny stories in there. Seems like most Targets are going to a Friday morning restock system.

I went by Target Friday night looking for s lunch kit for my daughter and they had about 25 Series 1 Topps fat packs there. Picked up 3 of them. I think they printed so many of these that the flippers are going to have a hard time making any profit at all so they may have given up. There were no signs limiting anything. The sign just said they would be stocked at 8am Friday morning. This was likely 12 hours later. Perhaps they were at the service counter that morning as they were just sort of lying on the flat surface in the card area, not on pegs.
I also happened to see some Heritage blasters on Saturday at. Walmart and I know the stocker goes Fridays. I went on my lunch Friday and there were five dudes sitting in the aisle waiting, so maybe they just didn't want Heritage.

you are lucky, nothing in my Target or Walmart for about a year now.
yet there are empty trays of all products at Walmart.
someone has an inside connection. I've talked to the managers multiple times and they keep saying they are working on it.
Probably time for me to send a letter to corporate of both places.

I haven’t seen retail in over a year. I remember in the mid 2010’s where it was readily available, I miss that.

My 2 Wally worlds moved the cards back to the Electronics section of the store, at the old up front location there is a sign stating so and a 3 item limit mix or match, even on Pokémon too. So go to the back of store. And look for the location and can't even see where they'd be on the shelf.

So I ask the girl in the section and she says, those are up front of the store. I tell her there is a sign up there saying they moved them to here. so she calls the service desk, and hear the guy say no they are still up front, the guy who stocks those cards put up that sign and not the store.

Turned out the guy was keeping them in back and letting a couple of his buddies and a few employees get the stuff. And the girl in electronics was well aware there was a crazy secondary market for them. She figures the vender was getting paid off, although she never seen it for sure.

So the cards are up front still the sign is gone and there never is anything out other then like large sets of Pokémon or limited supplies. And it has been this way for about 6 months now.

We're on the same page. I stopped looking shortly after the 2018 Update Party City/Big Lots explosion last year. I can't compete with the work from home or unemployed crowd who follow these people around or get contact info.
Also there's nothing good out there anymore as far as I'm concerned. I just periodically check my small stash and threaten to open one of them.
