Default Corner Flaw on Recently Purchased Card

I recently purchased this Harper Topps Archives 1/1. I did not do my research as I rushed the purchase and did notice the minor ding on the bottom right corner, which was not called out in the description.

I am assuming my shot at a PSA 10 is completely gone. Just how screwed am I?

Most archives cards have some damage to them, just nature of the product. I wouldn't buy singles online expecting to be able to flip it into a PSA 10.

It's crazy the number of people expecting to receive a psa 10 on random cards they buy on eBay. I can understand hoping for one, but the expectation should be that you will not

Not only that it’s a buyback auto so it’s been handled more than a regular card. Blame the player most likely. Check out that video of Marcus Stroman flinging the cards he was about to sign around.

Also many people including myself don’t like it when encased cards are cracked out anyway.

You’re also not getting anything into PSA anytime soon so there’s that.

A Harper 1/1 is most likely going to a PC, for a collector not a flipper to stash away to put kids thru college in 5 years.

You are not alienating the majority of your audience by leaving someones future PC card raw. For rainbows and such, most that I see are raw.

A good chunk of the higher end Prospect/RC 1/1 seem to get graded. That card is kinda like a stock, passed around to many people over the next few years. Being graded, it makes the transaction easier. No need to explain the condition or breaking out the loupe.

Grading from scans for me has been a crapshoot. Sometimes you cannot see dimples, indents, scratches and sometimes I can only see corner dings from certain angles/light.

What do you want? You want people to say you should return it? The fact that you have to ask means that you shouldn't. You already know you shouldn't, that's why you're hoping for others to tell you you can.

You can't. Enjoy your 1/1.

Tell the seller to kick rocks and that he's scum for posting a card that's not gem 10 quality. File a return, crack a beer, run the bot, check on the new sneekers, and then post your ebay ID so when you bid on my items, I'll make sure to check my listing to make sure its gem 10 quality.

Harper had a great card in 2020 Archives but on a wee bit less than popular design with the plain UPS border. So parallels of it are quite a bit more desirable.

If the card is ruined for you there are quite a few Harper collectors who will still want it.

About that same amount as the Acuna you bought with a dinged corner...

You aren't screwed at all. You got exactly what was pictured.

If you are trying to find raw 10s, then this isn't the way to do it.

Pretty sure it’s a Archives Signature Series. I clicked on his link to recheck and he’s taken it down apparently.

Sounds like YOU made the mistake buy rushing the purchase and not inspecting the photos. You learn and you live.. but don’t punish the seller.

All I could see was pictures of the corner. (All that matters I guess)

Sig Series could of course be any card ever. But it appeared to be just the black 1/1 from Archives. Aren’t Signature Series 1/1 cards delivered already encased (not ‘slabbed’) ?

There are a number of other parallels of the non-Signature Archives card to chase if the 1/1 black foil is ruint like this.

It was this card and the bottom right corner is the one in question.

Grading is ruined by this zombification. A Greek tragedy of a hobbyist... ugh

People need to stop grading 1/1’s. It’s a waste of money. The only reason to grade a 1/1 is to protect it. However, there are some nice cases that will protect it..
