Arrow When Curry’s career is over will he be considered a Top 10 Player of All-Time?

Discuss

I think he definitely is top 10 when it’s all said and done as the best shooter ever in the NBA.

Probably not. But it’s subjective anyway!

There literally is NO discussion here, no debate, greatest shooter of all-time, he changed the NBA... how many can say that?

This is going to be a heated debate, while I truly believe he deserves to be in the Top 10 list, who do you kick out?

MJ
Magic
Kareem
Bill
Lebron
Bird
Duncan
Olajuwon
Shaq
Kobe

We'll see how the rest of his career pans out. I think top 15 is more of a certainty... he may already be there. Kobe tends to land right around 10ish. I think Curry is a better player than Kobe, but these lists are influenced by hardware and legacy, and getting another title is no easy feat.

No he is not a Top 10 player of all time.

The greatest shooter of all time? 100%. Changed the way the game was played? Yes, but the same can be said about Harden and he's not Top 10.

However, he isn't Top 10 worthy. In my opinion at least.

Shaq easily. The rest were basketball players. Shaq was just a physical force. Nobody with that shooting form, regardless of their success, should be considered. If Wilt isn't on your list, than neither should Shaq.

I voted yes...but i still believe there is one last run with him/Klay/Dray for these next 2-3 years. Top 15 ain't all that bad either!

I do think Curry is the best or at least arguably the best 3 point shooter of all time. He definitely changed the game, but that is also why that is debatable. There have been other great players that could nail shots just as good but did not live in an era where launching 15 3s in a game was acceptable.
From 2 point range, steph is pretty typical for an NBA player and his D would be the worst of any 10 player by far if you put him in that group.
I think influence on the defensive side has to be a factor when looking at top NBA players of all time.
You'd have to put Curry ahead of a 3 of these guys to get into the top 10 and there are others you could add to this.
Jordan
Lebron
Wilt
Bill Russell
Kobe
Duncan
Shaq
Bird
Magic
Kareem
Hakeem
Durant
Big O

Top 15 is likely which is no knock on Curry. And yes, i believe Durant is better too.
Doesnt mean Curry isn't freaking amazing though and being the best at shooting 3s is something that he will be able to arguably make a case for forever.

When you think about guys you want to have on your team, Steph is up there.

-best 3 point shooter (not just making them, but getting off a 3 with tough D, and best range)
-great handles
-90% FTs
-multiple time champ
-multi-time MVP

Top 10 is debatable. Depends who the other guys on my team are, but if you have a squad like Russell, LeBron, MJ, and Hakeem (for example), the next best add would be Curry, IMO. If you have Durant and Bird on your team already, Curry isn't as necessary.

No way Top 10. I also believe the "he changed the NBA" is an exaggeration but I guess it's chicken and egg. I will say he was in the league for 3 years and wasn revolutionary. GSW got new owners, brought in analytics guys plus adding Klay to the equation and the NBA was changed forever. Does Harden get credit for changing the NBA? If Harden was on those GSW teams instead of Steph does anything change?

I would put Durant on that list before Curry.

I dont know about top 10. Its close. He still has about 5 years left to build legacy.

I will say he is easily top 10 for collectibility.

I consider him in the pantheon of blue chip players due to his popularity and marketability. He is right up there.

Top10 is steep. I'm not sure who he'd knock out. Definitely 15-20.

My top10

MJ
Bron
KAJ
Magic
Russell
Bird
Shaq
Hakeem
Kobe
Wilt

When I look at this list I don't see anyone Steph would jump. Add Duncan at 11 and I think that would put Steph at 12 for me.

I agree it is hard to knock anybody out of that top ten list. Let's see how the rest of his career plays out. The biggest thing, IMO, is that he did change the way the NBA is played. Yes, other players make 3's at great clip. Nobody is better than Curry, he will be number one in all time lists, and more importantly a whole generation of kids are going to design their game after him. All of this shooting from a foot beyond the arc is Curry's influence.

I don’t know man, I’ve witnessed Shaq’s dominant footprint at his absolute peak and it would be difficult for me to remove a 3 Peat Champ/FMVP. Like Curry, he was equally demoralizing and a tough task for most defenses in the game.

Out of “my” list, I’m tempted to say Curry has a chance to replace Olajuwon but even that’s hard to do, afaik Hakeem is the only player that won MVP, DPOY, a championship and FMVP in the same season, has a longer peak too.

I hope he gets there, but prob not unless he wins another chip or two. That said, he's already top 10 in terms of most historically important basketball players imo.

Generational player
Revolutionize the game
Best 3 PT shooter ever
NBA Champion
Clutch Performer
Ambassador (Globalize)

He is the best 3 PT shooter ever to me that takes him to top 10. If you were to start a team now, no way you don't put 1, or 2 for Curry. What surprises me is Harden has 4,000 points on him and they both came from the same rookie class. I know injuries and games played, but to see Harden that high kind of freaks me.

Good list.

It really is hard to quantify the top 10 because the style of play in the different eras vary so much.

In any pre 2000 era Curry would 100% not be as effective as Wilt, Hakeem, Shaq, Russell, or KAJ.

The way the game is played now and depending on the team there is a solid argument to take Curry over any of those big men (or really anyone on the list if the team is supportive of his style of play).
