Default Erik Kratz Accusation Against Rockies and Dodgers for Cheating "Just Like the Astros"

Will baseball actually investigate this with even remotely the same vigor they investigated the Astros?

Hopefully, it's not true, especially not with yet another team that actually won the title.
To have another club's championship run rendered as worthless as Houston's was, and so soon after, would be rough on the integrity of the game.

Kratz is a stand-up guy. Probably all true.

Don't beat around the bush Kratz. If you know something, spill it in detail with specifics. Don't hide behind ambiguities.

If the Dodgers did anything like the Astros, I want to know about it...

I don't remember which year it was. But I had one of those baseball video games and I did a fantasy franchise draft and I waited and waited and waited to draft a catcher and got stuck with Kratz as my starting catcher.

I do find it curious that per the article Kratz doesn't specifically say the Dodgers and yet, for some reason, the OP did in his thread title.

Click bait, and then when you get there, it's just some Astros fan trying to help his team not look like the worst cheaters ever, which they are.

IF this is true and backed by evidence and not just some player's random suspicions, this will give some reprieve to desperate Asstros fans...

MLB cheating will never end from residue on ball, hacked bat and performance enhancing drug. The recent cheating started with the Yankees (Carlos Beltran) and Red Sox. Remember the Yankees didn't want MLB Commish to release the letter about their cheating. Speaking of Mike Fiers, the pitcher who spilled the beans, he hasn't pitched against the Astros last year and this year. He has strategically missed series against his former team. Think about this, the Astros cheated, but other teams haven't been head-hunting the Stros. Altuve hasn't been HBP this year, or even in the Yankees series.

In the book “The Glory of Their Times” which has interviews of guys who played in the early 1900’s, Chief Bender talks about sign stealing schemes others teams would deploy. Sign stealing has been around since the implementation of signs. I’m not saying I condone it, and I definitely think guilty parties should be punished, but I really don’t get all this new outrage over something that has been going on for 120+ years. If you’re going to discredit the Astros World Series win, you need to go back through every World Series winner in history and make sure they’re squeaky clean. I’ll bet you a lot of them weren’t. It’s a part of the game that needs to be policed and punished when caught, but some of the reactions on here are way overboard.

They were all hit in last year's spring training. Like every day.

There is nothing in this article that points to the Dodgers. This is just clickbait to create controversy and Astros fans are promoting it to justify their scheme. People should listen to Ben Reiter's podcast in which he investigates and details the scheme and all of the actors in it - from the players to the front office. Much of the research done online in regards to the bangs was performed by a dedicated Astros fan who was motivated by a desire to learn the truth.

TL;DR: The doyers had to cheat to win*, even in that farce of a "season".

Of course not... they already caught the Yankees and Red Sox doing exactly the same thing (the Red Sox twice) and they didn’t investigate one and gave the other a slap on the wrist.

If there is one team that does not cheat, this is the team.

It is true they were pretty bad at it... I mean, who in their right mind cheats and makes themselves perform worse for so long??? Pretty sad

Now if they’d managed it like many other historic teams that used the cheating correctly to win, such as probably the most famous case of the ‘51 NY Giants coming from 13 1/2 games back in just 10 weeks to take the Pennant from the dominant Brooklyn Dodgers... or the ‘61 Reds who successfully used it to win the NL pennant... well at least teams like that managed to perform better because of it

Seriously. Fans of other teams that look down on the Astros, while thinking their team is clean, are naive.

As a lifelong Astros fan, this has been my belief all along. To think that what the 2017 Astros did was some idiosyncratic sin against the game is being willfully ignorant. There's no way there was only one organization trying to do something like that; they just had better players to start with so they experienced more success.

But the league, as a whole, has little interest in unburying all the skeletons - which makes a ton of sense to me from a financial perspective. It's just disappointing in terms of the equity of it all, but that's what happens when you don't live on the east or west coast in sports.

They get the brunt of it because they won. Tough toenails.

They won and paraded around like their crap didn't stink, from ownership on down.

So yeah people were quick to jump all over them.

They are lucky they just got a slap on the wrist but the stain from public perception will hopefully last a while longer.

None of this is new to anyone with half a brain.
Everyone was cheating.
MLB hated Luhnow and how smug he was so the Astros got treated differently.

Imagine it's 2005 and the MLB just goes all in on going after only the Yankees that were on steroids and refused to acknowledge or investigate anyone else then gives penalties to the Yankees for it and closes the book on it all. Can anyone imagine that ever happening? That's what happened here with the Astros.

Sign stealing such as the Astros did was as prevalent as steroids was. The entire leave should have taken the blame and started fresh. Instead they found a scapegoat and kept it moving.
