Love the 'City need to rebuild' their squad narrative when it's worth like billion dollars.

How is that any different to Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal or Man Utd? - all of which need rebuilding, and dead wood shifting.

It's not.

I've left Chelsea off that list considering they have already spent half a billion GBP on players in the previous two years, which is more than any other club in the world.

Sources seem to be confirming Buendia to Villa for 30m GBP rising to 40m with add ons and sell on clause in there too. Apparently Arsenal had an offer rejected so I'm not sure if that is the ignorance of Kroenke or they don't rate him at that price. A player of his nature was desperately needed for Villa, Grealish is really the only consistent creative output in the club so this will be key for the club to push on and hopefully challenge for Europe next year.

Villa with Grealish in the team have over a 50% win rate last season and without the win percentage was around 20% (he didn't start for 14 games so a decent sample).

Grealish, Watkins, Buendia (assuming he is put on the right) and if an attacking midfielder can come in to slot in where Barkley played last year then it could be a very interesting season if Grealish can stay fit.

40m for Buendia is staggering. Villa will finish 9th to 14th next season. Can't see much movement from them really unless Arsenal and Spuds shite the bed. (more than this season)

If they lose Grealish I'd genuinely have a bet on them finishing below 15th.

Leeds with a "concrete" interest in Noa Lang from Ajax, with AC Milan currently in second place.

Ugh.

Without the Grealish injury villa would have been top 8, it appears that Buendia is being brought in as a CAM, since Barkley came back from injury and it was clear how dreadful he was playing, Villa tried 5 different players in that position and no one claimed it as there own so I'm pretty confident of an improvement, again assuming the defence is as solid (ie. Is close to the record amount of clean sheets it equaled this year) and no key injuries then it should be a better season.

Either way it's exciting to see some intent from the owners to bring in quality players.

Links from the Guardian saying Villa are also interested in Ward Prowse but no way I see him leaving his boyhood club for a team that does not have European football.

Edouard to Leicester also looks like it could be completed soon, if he picks up his work rate could be a great signing

Actually you're right none of them had a single injury, Villa probably would have won the league had Grealish not been injured, silly of me to only say top 8

It's just a silly thing to say. "well, if grealish wasn't injured we'd have finished in x position" completely ignoring every other team in the league going for spells without key players.

Not at all actually. Of all teams in the league Villa are arguably the most dependant on 1 player, Grealish, who without with were in relegation form.

Grealish didn't start for 14 games, Kane missed what 3 or 4 games for spurs? I can't recall any major injuries for Arsenal, to be fair Everton did lose Rodriguez for a long period but again I don't believe it was as many as 14 games. Its very reasonable to think that Villa would have those additional 6 points over the teams around them to have been around the top 8 but it's all what ifs and maybes and irrelevant now. Either way I'm hopeful for a strong European push, especially if Spurs lose Kane.

If Villa do lose Grealish it will be a relegation battle unfortunately.

Leeds missed Kalvin Phillips for 8 games this season, and we lost nearly every game. If he'd have played, we would have finished 2nd!

Llorente missed 16 games, Koch also missed 16 games - our first choice CB's. We played with a RB and a reserve player for half the season in defence. If that hadn't have happened, we would have won the league, I think it's only reasonable to think.

There you have it so without the Grealish and Kalvin injury Villa would have been first and Leeds second, bright futures ahead for both clubs next season

Pfft you try playing next season with your 5th choice CB and a right back in central defence like we did for half a season

Did you see Tyrone Mings this season, I love his leadership but he wouldn't have made into a league 1 team with some of his performances and don't get me started on Barkley

I will definitely be keen to see how Leeds do next year, one of the more exciting teams to watch, I would hate to be player for Bielsa though, the work rate is ridiculous.

Because those 4 sides were crap that didnt win anything. I'll give Liverpool some slack because they lost like 4 CBs but City won a domestic double and lost the CL Final. They could go into the season with the exact same team. I just take issue with the few articles I've seen presenting this 'City need to rebuild' narrative as if they have problems.

and Chelsea didnt spend 500M the last two years lol.

We'd best stop this talk of injured players and what not, it will atrract the Liverpool "fans" and that's the last thing we want

Sorry, three.

Kepa - £75m
Havertz - £72m
Pulisic - £60m
Jorginho - £50m
Werner - £50m
Chillwell - £45m
Kovacic - £40m
Ziyech - £40m
Mendy - £20m

= c£450m then add on signing fees, agents fees.

go back another year if you want and then you also have...

Morata - £60m
Bakayoko - £40m
Drinkwater (lol) - £35m
Rudiger - £35m
Zappacosta - £25m
Emerson - £17m
Giroud - £15m
Barkley - £15m
Ampadu - £3m

That's another c£240m spent, three quarters of a billion GBP

Really dissapointing to report Donnarumma a stones throw away from signing with PSG.

5 mill singing bonus
10 mill annual salary for 5 years
20 mill to Riaola.
Was really hoping he would sign with Juve but I'm told his singing bonus and Riaolas fees are a big obstacle for them currently.
...

Also hearing a rumor from Türin of a swap.

RAMSEY for Hector BELLERIN

It seems complicated like the Arthur-Pjanic swap.

Not the biggest fan of Bellerin personally, but we're paying Ramsey stupid money and he really hasn't done anything.

Jan tweeted this this morning. Buckle Up Boys and Girls, looks like the Wonderkid will be a Blue. Owner Roman Abromovich already agreed to the initial fee requested by Dortmund at 154 Million Pounds, only thing to rework is Wage Structure and whether to offer a package of players to offload for Chelsea.

"Re: Erling Haaland

Chelsea working intense to get Erling Haaland.
He is seen as the “missing” player to make them challenge for the PL-title next season.
Fee very high, but confidence that this can be solved.
The main obstacle could be the wage-structure at Chelsea"
