Default 1961 Fleer Basketball Questions

I came across these cards and I was wondering if any were worth sending to SGC to get in a case. I know the centering is bad and none are in perfect condition but some are worth good money even at low PSA grades. I never graded any vintage so I have no clue what to look for. Would any be worth sending to SGC since PSA is only super express and I don’t think these would be worth sending for that price. Also, any idea if the line through the Bill Russell will automatically make this a 1 or does it not lower it that much? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

I think it would be worth it, they actually look pretty decent. Nice find!

Yes, the set is notorious for being OC---- grade everything you can, at least the biggies

And yeah the Russells probably a 1, Big O a 3 at best, the rest of the biggies 1s and 2s. Nice stuff!

What happened to the Wilt, the whole top is cut off...literally cut, not a whole card there?

eta: But very cool cards overall!

Just looked. You’re right. It looks smaller. No clue. They aren’t mine so I can’t answer. They are my son’s girlfriends fathers cards. He has no clue so I’m helping him.

Get the key cards graded (West, Chamberlain, Robertson, Russell, Baylor) and then sell it as a set. The fact that you've got a Chamberlain that is both O/C and cut really small (not that unusual for 1961 Fleer), will make the set more affordable to a collector just looking to have one. Just request that the Chamberlain be put in an "Authentic" holder.

I agree that I would grade the big RC's. I actually don't think the Russell is an automatic 1 at all because of the print line. I have seen cards with that same print line grade much higher. That card is low grade, but the print line is not the limiting factor for the grade of that card. Good luck.

They probably will send the Chamberlain back as a minimum size issue.

Hey there...if you are looking to move any of them please let me know...I have a complete set but would prefer ungraded cards as long as they are upgrades from what I have...they honestly don't look that bad at all and should still demand a decent price, especially for some of the rookies. Did he also have any of the Topps cards from the previous year? Good luck regardless!!
