I feel like he won't be a thing after these playoffs. 4-14 FT's, that's rougher than prime Shaq. At least you know when Shaq's tanking on FT's he will give you more than an 8 point game in a critical game 5.

He's still a thing? I thought remaining Simmons' apologists finally had enough after last night and joined the haters. Pitchforks galore.

Here is what I dont get. Regardless if he is good or bad, the way the 76ers use him, they pay him max contract money and ask him to do something there are many point guards in the league that could perform that role.
And at a fraction of the price. And they make free throws. It is just stupid that they have max money tied up in a guy that they are happy with him shooting 3 to 4 times per game and getting 7-8 assists.
Apart from the free throw shooting which is embarassing, and not being a 3 point threat, his efficiency from 2 and good D suggests he is a good player. so its hard to say whether this is Ben or the way the team uses him. He is a true inigma.

Morey is overall a good GM but his move to not Trade Simmons, Maxey, and picks for Harden will go down as an all-time blunder. I think Harden, Embiid, Harris and a few solid role players would've been good enough to get at least 1 title in the next 3-4 years.

A PG that cant be trusted down the stretch of a game (no 3 point range and poor FT) is useless.

The Rockets wouldn't do the trade... Wasn't Morey

I think Simmons just needs a bit more confidence. He can obviously impact the game defensively, but his poor shooting prevents him from making that next jump to becoming elite. It's been over 5 years and his shooting is still a significant issue.

I personally think that he has gotten to a point where he knows he can get to the basket with ease and has become content with that. Does he have the "dog" in him that consistently wants to play hard and improve every year? I feel like he does everything else well, but his poor shooting just hinders the real "ceiling" of this Sixers squad.

NOW, THIS MAY SEEM LIKE A STRETCH but If I'm a trainer at the Sixers facility, I would recommend really training with the same Black Ops Trainer Gilbert Arenas did after he missed 2 clutch free throws when LeBron tapped him. I think if Simmons locks in and really dedicates himself to improving his skill set, he'd be a SCARY sight for the rest of the league.

Thing that struck me about last nights' collapse was firstly how Simmons just didn't want any part of any offensive play down the stretch. He's like the kid at high school you know can't shoot so you don't guard him.
Secondly - even when the Sixers were still leading halfway through the collapse - the look on Doc's face was one of resignation.
Wouldn't be surprised if they get blown out in game 6.

How many years does a max contract player need to develope his freaking confidence?

Only reason he is still a thing is the $$$ people have invested and the hype from when he was the next bronbron. Remember when he signed with UD? Thought this place was going to melt down. Now he is trash.

When I heard Deandre Hunter was out for the series, I figured Ben was going to now have a monster series... I also thought there was no way we could win 2 in Phila ... so, I'd like to go ahead on record and say the Hawks Can not win the Championship (of the east)

Just the fact this thread exists proves the thingness of Ben Simmons.

I think Simmons should be taking over this league and I’ve waited for him to develop a competent shot. But he just seems to missing the it factor that drives a select few players to greatness. He’s an all star caliber player and the 76ers are the one seed and he’s a huge piece of that. As for what’s next? I’m baffled to say it but I think we are seeing it

More about the desire to prepare and the confidence to deliver. But yes, in simplistic terms. Develop at shot!

This guy should be in the gym every day practicing free throws and working on his shot. But he’s young and has a ton of money. I really doubt his work ethic.
