Default Are the Coyotes moving next year?

The city of Glendale has decided to not renew the operating agreement with Arizona Coyotes after the 2021-22 season. There is no other NHL acceptable building in the greater Phoenix area, so I guess they are on the move (Houston, KC, Quebec?)...

As much as I’d love to see the Nordiques reborn, I doubt the NHL would go back to Quebec. It’s a great city but fairly small compared to the other places they could go.

Would Tempe be that much better than Glendale location-wise from D/T Phoenix?

without a doubt... It never made any sense to build that arena so far out there. There is no mass transit, unless you count buses, to get to the stadium. Tempe is a lot more centrally located and has the light rail access. Plus with the college right there, more out of state hockey fans probably than in state.

Putting the football stadium made sense, you only need to travel for 8 games, no one wants to drive all the way to Glendale 42 times a year. Granted it isn't so bad, it is right off of a major highway. But again not even close to being centrally located.

loved what they did in the offseason. decided to weaponize their cap space, added a ton of bad deals and picks and prospects. Odd that them and the senators-2 franchises not exactly considered well run blue bloods have actually done a rather competent job at tearing down and rebuilding.

Also a huge fan of Shane Doan and Paul Bisonette. If I'm a fan and going through what their fans are going through this year those are 2 broadcasters that would make the whackiness doable.

It would be interesting if the Coyotes moved to Houston or Kansas City for one or two seasons until a new arena was built or renovated up to NHL standards in Arizona.

While it might be interesting for the hockey fans of those two cities, that move wouldn’t exactly excite the fan base of the city you would be returning too. Best of luck to the ticket sales department hoping to hold and sell new season ticket packages.

I’m hoping it goes as far south as possible. You make it a 30 min or less ride for me and I’ll finally get seasons again after giving up my Sabres seats 8 years ago.
