Default 2019-20 and 2020-21 Prizm boxes. Should I Rip them?

I just bought a hobby box of 2020-21 prizm and a retail box of 2019-20 prizm for almost $1800 for the pair. I really want to rip them but am I insane trying to chase a Zion or Lemelo rookies? Let me know what you guys think?

Do you want those rookies or not? There's your answer.

It's your $$ so you can spend it however you want, but since you asked...

I think you made a poor decision by buying the boxes and putting yourself in this current situation rather than just buying the cards you wanted and likely having $$ left over.

I'd rip them; then again, I rip everything because I collect basketball cards.

But you'll almost certainly lose $$$ ripping, if that's your focus.

The likelihood of recouping what you spent is low. I'd sell the boxes (even if you take a little loss on them) and buy Zion/LaMelo rookies.

Rip if you enjoy ripping, but going to be hard to make your money back doing so. If money is the real goal then don't open.

Retail boxes at retail prices.

Honestly, it's better to buy singles than rip wax in hopes of hitting specific cards (or even base/parallels of specific players).

Yes rip. You’ll never remember that you shouldn’t have ripped, but will always regret the what if’s.

Yup, reminds me of the old man in his 80s that ripped a 1952 Topps wax pack. Fr*ck the haters!

My buddy who buys these over priced hobby boxes always wants me to reassure him so I say, how much pleasure do you get with a session of opening premo wax? Okay, now when you take your wife out for a date, what do ya spend on the night? 3 to 4 hundred bucks? All fun comes with a cost and sometimes there's a prize waiting for you for your labors... Or maybe not but damn was that fun! See..?

Sadly, I agree with you.

I stopped gambling with retail for the most part and have purchased the actual cards I wanted. Much better that way.
