Default Anyone else have silver cards starting to tarnish?

I pulled this in 2017. I avoided touching the silver, and I've stored it in a sandwich baggy since; however, you can see that the silver is tarnished.

I have no intention of trying to clean it or otherwise mitigate the tarnish, but I don’t see any of these on eBay with similar issues, so I either did something wrong or everyone else is cleaning theirs (somehow).

Has anyone else had this issue?

People touching it before it was inserted in the pack or just the card making process in general. Having it in the sandwich bag can cause it to tarnish; the chemicals from the bag. Sandwich bags are not archival safe. Also, weather and/or humidity could play a role.

Silver tarnishes much more easily than gold.

Curious about this as well. I have a Dirk from 2016 that I hit via a break with Platinum. They wear gloves and immediately put it in a magnetic. I don't see much Tarnish on it...but I'm curious about the long term on it.

Might be time to sell mine before it gets too bad.

Silver is not gold. As opposed to the theories regarding "greening," this can be scientifically proven; all of them will eventually tarnish.

Cosigned. Cheap commercial plastics, like sandwich bags, contain sulfur and they will also trap moisture.

The sulfur will force it to tarnish quicker, and the the trapped moisture will help speed things up. If you really want to put it on a ziplock, at least wrap it in acid-free tissue paper first.

With the cardboard surface, you cant easily clean these cards, like you can a coin or silverware. If I had one, I would put it in a good mag. Put that mag in an Acid-Free Archival Safe Poly Bag. And THEN I would stick a piece of chalk in the bag for good measure, to attract any moisture that might be in there.

You can do all of that, for less than $5.
