Default What is an MNB silver diamond inspection of a PSA 10 card?

I saw this on Ebay and I was wondering what a MBA silver diamond sticker for a PSA 10 card? Is something that some collectors do with their cards to make their PSA 10's stand out more? Is it a scam? How much does it cost on top of grading fees?

It's a useless gimmick attempting to justify higher prices.
The first one posted was proven to be trimmed so it's basically worthless.

Yes. It's people trying to copy the coin market. Basically it's a 2nd grade, as if for some reason mike baher is THE authority.

Agreed. I wouldn't call it a 'scam' necessarily.

It's another party who grades graded cards, essentially.

I'm considering starting a new business that grades the grader who grades the initial grading service.

It’s the TPG for the TPG.

A worthless opinion on an often incorrect opinion.

It’s like if there was a whole separate network to discuss Stephen A’s opinion on sports.

That is just silly. However grading the slab is important I will encapsulate the slab in another slab to grade the condition of the slab. If anyone uses any foreign substance to enhance the condition of their slab, I will have to mark it as altered.

Dunno... If you charge someone to worthlessly 'enhance' a "professionally graded" card with a stupid label and inaccurate opinion on it, you're kinda scamming. Or just taking advantage of sheep, which is kinda scammy too.

All tpgs are scams. Psa was founded on the biggest scam in the industry.

Its for insecure people who need not just one person, but two people to tell them what condition their card is in.

I think people who submit to them know what they are getting. They are grading the grade.

That's more of a gimmick than a scam. If people choose to buy in to paying for a second opinion from a less reputable source, then so be it. I wouldnt do it.

But when that second opinion is wrong/irrelevant, it is kind of a scam.

It's like offering an additional warranty on something that is already covered. Except in this case the original item may not be genuine and then you have this 'second opinion' further enhancing the illegitimate item. It's just such BS. It is gimmicky, but it's also preying on the ignorant, which to me is what pushes it into scam territory.

I did a podcast on this in October of 2020, but the basic details should still be the same. I didn't cover costs though.

Podcast was pretty spot on, while not being overly harsh.
