Default Do PSA cases prevent ink from fading?

***Disclaimer*** Potentially Dumb Question below

I've read that if you leave autos in the sun/bright lights for too long they will eventually fade.

I picked up this Jordan at the National. It's a PSA 5. I believe it got the 5 rating because of the faint pen mark on the bottom. If I were to leave this in the sunlight/under lights for a long period of time, would the remaining ink mark fade away?

The ink would fade. But so would the overall colour on the card.

Blast it with enough UV light to light up Hong Kong and that ink will disappear.

Jordan may end up looking like Luc Longley, but at least the ballpoint pen ink will be gone.

I wouldn't recommend anything that you said. The card is what it is, accept it and keep it safe!

Probably not and you run the risk of fading the color on the actual card. I owned a faded Jordan at one point and it really bothered me until I was able to purchase a non faded copy.

Is it definitely pen? If that mark is something extrinsic to the original printing process, then the card should have received a mark (MK) qualifier.

In PSA's own words that qualifier is one of two "applied without exception."

Sulfuric acid will remove the pen mark.

Potentially dumb answer.

I'm sure there's a qualified domestic or foreign card MD on IG that can cure your Jordan's ink ailment for a fee.

Good point, looks like pen to me.

I’m also not going to do this haha. Was more just curious when I was looking at it.

It might. But it will also fade out the color of the rest of the card. Sunlight and even just light itself is the enemy of cards. All of my cards are in dark storage unless if I am enjoying them.

Don’t leave it in the light. The overall color of the card will fade too. Just leave it and accept the pen mark will always be there.

Sun will fade EVERYTHING... not just the ink. So no, please don't leave the card out in the sun.
