Default The Perennial Timberwolves trash heap bottom feeder thread

Ant said their loss to NO a week ago should have been a wake up call. This loss to ORL last night should be a reality check: KAT and DLo will never be a winning combo. Blow it up. I don’t care if those two were conjoined twins, get rid of one or both and start over. KAT doesn’t have the desire to be a great player and Russell comes across as a pothead who just wants the baller life.

Jimmy Butler was right. Not gonna win anything with KAT as your best player because he's not a leader

I'd like to see Russell gone and then let Pat Beverly run the show. See if anything changes and if not, then look at moving KAT at the break.

Why would you let go of KAT?

Maybe Boston should let go of Brown and Tatum and that will fix things there too.

The Wolves need a coach who can get the team headed in the right direction. I feel that over the years, aside from draft choices, this has been their biggest failure.

Last night was a joke of a 4th quarter....they just QUIT.

Ant may be the only player I'd keep long-term. Sometimes I wonder if these players make so much money that their hunger for winning just disappears...like they're content to make their millions and go home.

You're either wired to be an 'Alpha', like Jordan/Kobe/Bill Russell/etc...or you're not. And we are obviously not. (with Ant the possible exception...too young to tell at this time)

If you aren't winning with a guy that is supposed to be your franchise player/leader, then why not try and get some assets back for him?

I'd say you give players 3-4 years max to figure out whether they're your franchise guy or not.

Sure doesn't look like KAT is a franchise level player. His stats are amazing but just doesn't lead to winning basketball

As a Twolves fan it is difficult to see where the team goes from here. The team is 3-3, the sky hasn't fallen yet, but there are glaring issues (like D'Lo) and the ceiling seems to be somewhere around maybe being able to slip into the playoffs with a first round blowout exit? Still early, but so far things have not looked good overall. Which is sad because their defense does look to be improved, their offense is just dysfunctional though.

I just don't know what they can do with players like KAT and D'Lo. If you remove KAT the team will instantly be a bottom team again and the entire soul of the team is going to be crushed for a while since he has been the franchise head since he was drafted (for better or worse). I don't see how you get great value back for him too, I guess you just stack draft picks? I am not sure who wants Russell at this point with his contract, ego, injury concerns, and productivity level.

Thank goodness for Anthony Edwards, even though his shooting percentage is a struggle so far, he is the future and is still so fun to watch. I am still all in on Ant.

My opinion at this point would be to keep seeing more of the current roster throughout the season, if they get it together and look like they can improve, great. But if things look terrible, it sucks but I think you have to blow it up and take the pieces you want long term like Edwards and see what you can get for the rest. KAT/D'Lo are established players at this point, we all know what they can offer going into their 6th season, so it is time for acceptance and moving on if it isn't working.

For card purposes: I am still 100% fine with all of my Anthony Edwards card purchases, I am still ok with KAT purchases, either he makes it work in MN or is going to a new team which could increase value. I think I whiffed on my D'Lo purchases in the off-season lol.

He feels a bit like Minnesota Kevin Love. Though, I would give the nod to KAT as the better player.

That DLO and Anthony Edwards' backcourt nucleus is going to combust at some point. AE has already surpassed DLO as the 2nd focal point in offense. I hated DLO's game with the Lakers and still don't like him now. He's quite possibly the weakest player named to the All Star game in this era. Trade his nonchalant behind.

KAT and AE are excellent building pieces, it's hard to find a better second option- with first option skills- than KAT.

AE is a year away from taking over that team, he's already their most vocal leader, right next to Pat Bev. They really have a good 1-2 punch, but knowing the Wolves franchise, I'm pretty sure they're going to mess this up again.

Dlo was pretty awesome for the Nets ... just hasnt brought it back since.

Kat got in his best shape this off season ... if not for that, I'd say trade him , if it hasnt worked yet then it's not gonna... but kinda makes you wonder if hes about to enter that prime of when guys have finally matured and are taking things more serious now ... if he cant turn this ship around this year and get them in the playoffs then he needs to go.

This is a young team. Pat Bev, gives them the spine they need. Don't bail on them yet. D-Lo did hit the game winner the other night, although if someone makes a good trade offer I'd do it!

Another awful performance tonight against LAC …. Led by 20 at one point! Awful home stand…just embarrassing overall.

I guess they just need a week-long break for mental health.

The thing is, Love had them doing about as good as possible before he went to CLE.

40-42 record in a brutal West where the 9 teams above them won 48 or more.

They would have been a top 5 seed in the East. Then Love left and Minny finished dead last.

KAT has nowhere near the heart K. Love had. I'd take prime K. Love all day.

Minny are an absolute mess. KAT is soft. D. Lo a chump.

They had Jimmy and were a top 4 seed and then crapped down their leg when he got injured and then let him walk.

It'a time for the NBA to get a relegation like the EPL. Stop letting these chump organizations waste top level talent.

This thread will be able to get bumped after every game. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them lose out.

Someone stick KAT’s face on this bear’s head, please....

AE looks good though, that's something Wolves fans can be happy of. They got a guy who's not going to be happy just putting up numbers. Kid is competitive.
