Default Time to toss late 80's cards?

Has everyone already tossed their late 80's Topps/Donruss collections? I have boxes of '88 Topps, complete sets, and they are too heavy to take with me. Time to move and I'm ready to fill up the recycle bin, I guess.

Nope - the singles actually still sell, I mean not for incredible money but these still have some sort of demand (if you were close I'd offer you something for it but I'm in IL)

And rare errors and variations

Use the remaining for kindling in the cold times

I have a pile (20-30) of late 80's early 90's sets I'd love to get $100 for and get the space back. I just don't want to deal with shipping.

You could put an ad in Craigslist for a collector to come by and take it off your hands for nearly free or free and somebody else would enjoy the collection. Or you could give the cards to a Salvation Army/Goodwill type store and then can sell it the cards for money to be raised for charitable endeavours.

I think you can get a tax credit from Goodwill too.

I throw away all Score cards from 88-95 except the 93 select inserts.

Keep them around until the next pandemic, then sell.

Where are all the usual forum moon bois who just several months ago were extolling even late ‘80s cards and how much ROI they were getting from them?

Odd not seeing them post in this thread because they’re still posting in other threads now

There was some value when you could send them in and chase PSA 10s for $9 or $10. It doesn't look as though we will see that option again.

Marketplace or Craigslist, you only need one junk wax addict like me in the vicinity.

I already checked your location but I’m in the northeast, so I’m out unfortunately.

Definitely toss them. If we can just get everyone to toss them, my pile of garbage may be worth something one day. But we just need to get donruss to stop printing them.

I’m getting closer. Have reduced a few years down to 3-4 pages of cards. Pulled the HoF cards, check. Looked at COMC prices on a few and itz like, ehh, just keep those too I guess.

There is a paper mill where I live that can put any paper product right back in to new product. Easy-peasy drop off too. Just haven’t quite put the cards in to the vehicle to do the deed…really should though. Then I would have some empty boxes to put other cards in and never look at for years & years. Hooray!

Yeah. Note I still have the cards though. Those old MLB stadiums pull me in every time.

This is what I've been thinking. I just moved and 99% of my cards are now at my mother's house, where they will probably stay until I move out of this apartment and back into a house.

(9) 3200 ct boxes of junk wax and jettisoning that would go a long way toward my goal of getting down under 100k cards.
