Default BGS to PSA Crossover Grading

For those of you who have previously sent in cards you have graded by BGS to PSA for a crossover grading, what have your experiences been like?

I have a bunch of BGS 9.5's with all 9.5 sub grades and I'm wondering what the chances are that those would equate to a PSA 10.

I sent (10) bgs 9.5 of the same card back in late 2020
6 were quads or better
4 were with one subgrade 9
Only 2 were crossover to psa 10

2 Years debating if i should crack them and send them raw lol

Wow. Surprisingly low success rates.
I would love to hear from someone who tried to cross a bgs 8.5 to PSA.

That sounds like something that should be cracked.... A PSA 7 probably worth more than a BGS 8.5!

Take a few minutes and watch this video by pcsportscards. I'm firmly in the crack & resub camp - https://youtu.be/57r_9oYjftQ

I have successfully crossed over a bunch of BGS 9.5's to PSA 10. all were at least quad 9.5, some had one 10 sub grade. all crossed. even had one no subs 9.5 cross to a PSA 10. the ones that didn't cross by meeting the min grade of 10, were cracked and sent raw and got 10's. the only exception was a tripe 9.5 and a corners sub of 9. This successfully crossed first time to a PSA 10. the corner BGS saw was atomic pattern glare, not a bad corner. PSA saw through that and gave it a 10.

I crossed a BGS 8.5 (triple 9 and edges 8) to a PSA 7, which honestly I feel was the more appropriate grade for the card due to edge chipping on back. I thought BGS overgraded it but wanted it in a PSA holder. set it as a min grade of 7 though figuring thats what it would get.

I cracked out a BGS 9 (triple 9.5's and an 8.5 centering) and got a PSA 10.

I cracked out a BGS 9 (triple 9.5's and an 8.5 surface) to a PSA 8. Not sure what was wrong with the surface, I checked it over before sending and wiped it down with a microfiber thinking it was a fingerprint or something. But apparently both companies saw something I must've missed.

1 for 2 on true-gem-plus. The one with '10' surface crossed, the one with '9.5' surface ('10' was for centering) didn't cross.

Surface is the hardest to judge through the BGS holder, so the success rate will always be low.

I've crossed 12 to PSA 10 out of 20 cards. Don't rely purely on the BGS grades though, take a look at the card as best you can through the case. Sometimes you have a 9.5 sub on a corner but when you actually look at it, you know it's a 9 and won't cross. PSA is gonna catch that too. Oh, and of course make sure the slab is clean, if it's scratched up they won't be able to look through it for blemishes and won't consider crossing it over.

I think I'm 2-10. One of the cards that crossed had a 9 sub-grade too.

So I'll give some examples of some I'm thinking of crossing over and see what you all think.

I feel like success rate has got to be much higher cracking and subbing, than subbing in the cases.

I know there isn't a way to properly test that - but I'd be a lot of money that's the case.

I have a card I really want to try that with, it's a BGS 9 - (9.5, 9.5, 9, 9). I know it's a really low shot - but even if it came back a PSA 9, it would still cover the cost of grading (the $ difference between BGS and PSA 9). But if it happened to get a 10, that would be worth a few thousand. I've talked to a few people that have had success doing the same kind of crossover, so it's tempting to give it a shot.

Just sent two BGS 9.5 quads at the Super Express $300 level
Both cards are valued very close to $5,000 each

One didnt meet the PSA 10 min, however the other one did and got upcharged another $300.

ill take it.. 1 of 2

Total cost about $1,000 and the card gained close to $3-3.5k in value

Does Beckett and PSA use a 10X magnify glass to examine cards for grading?

It looks like I went 1 for 2 at the Super Express level. Both had three 9.5s and a 10 sub grade. Still waiting for final grades to post.

After repeatedly and severely getting my butt kicked on crossing quad 9.5's, i decided to start cracking, in some cases with the exact same cards. After cracking, I went 17/20 getting 10's, with 2 9's and an 8. I think you've got to be willing to just roll the dice.

Grades popped today and it looks like I was wrong. I went 2 for 2 but since I already had a 10 on one of them, the registry trick didn’t work for it. I assumed it didn’t cross over. I have 5 others with them at the regular service level for cross over. Two are quad 9.5’s and the others have 9.5’s with one 10 subgrade.

I cracked a BGS min gem 9 centering Trout Update that I bought here, PSA 10 just popped today! The card was real sharp and just very slightly OC. Definitely recommend cracking vs crossover if you’re willing to take the risk.

Wow! What a great crack out.

I had a similar success with a BGS 9 2018 Chrome Update Pink Refractor Juan Soto. Centering was 8.5! But the other subgrades were solid. Cracked out and got a PSA 10. Sent through PC Sportscards.
