Default What 1/1 masterpieces are still left in boxes?

What 1/1 masterpieces are still left in boxes? Or any other huge cards you think are still maybe sitting in a pack?

You would have to look at pop reports and trackers available in forums for any kind of estimate. With the cost of boxes these days, I doubt its worth to break any of it but the chance there is a Kobe or Jordan makes it thrilling.

Well the coolest looking ones are hands down the Gem Masters from 98-99 Metal. They’re basically embossed Star Rubies, one of the nicest sets ever and actually live up to what a 1/1 should be. Many of the 90s masterpieces are really underwhelming, like the purple (as opposed to blue of the Legacies) foil lettering of the ones from Showcase.

Would love to know which players are still in packs. I believe the mj and kobe were pulled.

The 2009 Chrome Curry superfractor? Wonder how many unopened boxes are left.

That is a tough call. There is probably not a whole lot of unopened product out there at least not that is just random. I'm sure there's still a fair amount of unopened product that is being collected though.
I wouldn't be surprised if there are a few very rare and valuable cards lurking in a card shoebox/binder from a very casual collector back in the day that hasn't been thought of in years.
I think the last time I really saw boxes from the 90's that where reasonably priced was probably 5 years ago if not longer. I will say from what I recall when I stopped collecting from around 2010-11 to 2016-ish largely most of the 90s wax I saw was dried up.

The curry super was pulled a long time ago. I believe one of the older board member still owns it.

Did the Jayson Tatum RC Logoman from NT ever surface? Not exactly a masterpiece but bounties were plentiful for it.

I don't think the Ultimate Kevin Durant Logoman RC has ever surfaced.

Jordan and Kobe have been pulled. The Ken Griffey Jr. gem masters has never surfaced though AFAIK.

Crazy. Sealed 99 Metal baseball boxes should be considered a crime based on this alone.

I've never heard/seen and I've scoured a bit. You sure you're not mistaking it for his NT logoman RPA?

Would love to see a picture of his gold vinyl Jostens grail.

You’re thinking of the Essential Credentials Now. I think on the whole there’s more masterpieces in unopened product than private personal collections.

I wonder how many are just sitting in a box in the attic. I owned a card shop back in the late 1190s early 2000s and you would be surprised how many people who didn’t collect would come in and buy a pack or box just to open and have no idea what they were looking for. If it wasn’t a jersey or Auto in that time the average person didn’t care. People would just bust packs looking for jersey or auto cards all the time. No jersey or auto the rest of the cards didn’t really matter. Or the team collector that a common card from his team meant more to them than a rare jordan or Kobe. Seriously there was a lot of it back then. Or just the random non collector who bought some packs while his kid was looking at Pokémon or wife looking at Beanie Babies, or just killing time.....I would bet a ton of grail type cards are either lost forever or in junk drawers

I’ve seen a photo of it once on here, but I can’t seem to find it now. It was way back around 2011 or so. I’ve always thought it was common knowledge that it was pulled. Really weird that I can’t seem to find a scan of that card anywhere. Im 100% sure I’m not confusing it with NT logoman. No else has seen this card? I can’t possibly be the only person that has seen this card.

I totally take your word on that, as I really wasn't as active back then. Just odd that there's no traces of it anywhere on google. But I suppose that could be totally feasible if it's in a PC where a lot of monsters get tucked away never to see sunlight again.

Imagine how many kids bought random packs and just left PMGs or other chase cards in a drawer with their micro machine collections until they spilled soda all over the place and threw em away. Gotta be a non-zero number lol.
