Default What was your first car?

What was the first car you owned. And if you want to share, how much did you pay for it?

1988 Chevy Spectrum - I was lucky enough to get it for free from my parents. If they did sell it, they would have probably gotten $500, if that.

It was affectionately known as “The Stunt Car” amongst my friends. As mischievous teenagers, I would ram into garbage cans and run into shopping carts sending them flying at night with my buddies. It was a jerk thing to do but we were kids.

The trunk was broken into several times in the city, so my father McGyver’ed it by rigging a cable from the trunk to the center console.

Stock photo (same poo color)

It was a white, 1980something Dodge Aries. I remember sliding it into a huge pile of snow in a parking lot that was a sheet of ice. (better than hitting the light pole, I guess), that the doors wouldn't even latch shut when it was really cold out, and one time the horn just randomly started going off while it was parked out front, lol! It served its purpose. I made it out alive, too.

edit -

Price, I really don't remember. I think somewhere around 800. I got screwed over, basically. My grandparents had said I could have their old Grand Marquis (yeah, one of those big ass boat cars), but MY parents sold it and I can guarantee the proceeds were not a Dodge Aries, lol!!

1985 Ford Ranger. My dad bought it off my uncle and my brother and I shared it when we had our licenses. It was a tank.

The first one I bought was a 1992 Buick Skylark. Bought it off my Grandpap when I was a sophomore in college in 2005. Paid $1500 for it.

My grandmother gave me her 97 XJ Cherokee when I turned 16 in 2001. Had it lifted with all kinds of aftermarket stuff. Sold it to a friend in 2004 so I could get a sport car. Went to buy it back a year later and he had totaled it, wrapped it around a telephone pole when he was drunk.

I know alot of old Mustangs have value these days. Is this one of them that would be considered 'collectable' these days?

Thats a cool looking car. Not a fan of the color though.

1985 Mazada B-2000 pickup. It was a complete crap box that I bought from my cousin for $5. About 5 different colors of blue, rust and holes, it ran good enough to get me around to school, practice, and work.

Mine had a fire breathing 4 cylinder so no.

The Cobra versions with a not as anemic V8 have some value. They look pretty cool too.

A 1972 VW. Fantastic car and cheap to fill up. Only problem was when the gas tank level got near 1/4 full, the needle just fell to the E. Bit me twice before I realized it.

First car I bought that was mine was a 84 Volkswagen Golf when I was stationed over in Germany.

Parents bought a Dodge Omni for me and my mom to use after I bought my license, but it wasn't 'mine' even though I drove it the majority of the time.

1986 Pontiac 6000. Paid $600 for it in 1995. It was crazy reliable. Started every time even in 30 below weather sitting outside.

Not to spoil the fun but maybe not a good idea to share this info. Some security questions you have set up might be the name of your first car. So just be careful with that info.

1988 Nissan D21 Pickup truck and I paid $500 for it. Never had an issue with it I couldn’t fix myself. Mom took me out for my first drive in it and had to learn stick shift before automatic. Smarty lady
