NBA All-Star Weekend Thread

I know a lot of people love to by cynical about All Star weekend, but personally, I enjoy the heck out of it.

For once I have some interest in the Rising Stars games with the new tournament format. Dunk contest lacks stars like always, but hoping one or two of these guys can put on a good show.

Of course, the All Star game under the new format only gets fun if the score is close. Last year was a dud, but 2 years ago was one of the most competitive games I've ever seen.

Excited for this.

Go watch the 1987 all-star game. Incredibly competitive wire to wire, none of this showboating nonsense (I was watching the 1998 game and Kobe was definitely one of the culprits of showing off instead of playing good basketball and it was all downhill from there.) Have fun, but I'd rather watch a Tuesday night game between bottom feeders.

Love all star weekend. Although I wish it went back to a regulation game for the All-Star Game. Digging new rising stars format for now. Dunk contest is in serious need of some bigger names in the coming years. They could do away with the skills challenge and do a half court shot contest and I think that would be way more fun

That was 2 years ago, the first time they used the new format.

Which is also the format they are using for the Rising Stars tournament. Personally, I'm hoping this works well and could end up being one of the best parts of the weekend if the players get into it.

At least they did something different with the Skills challenge this year. Having Team Giannis vs. Team Cavs vs. Team Rookies at least gives me some WWF Survivor Series vibes.

What's cool about the Rising Stars tourney is that I now have a rooting interest (Team with Mobley, Okoro, Cunningham).

I have no idea how this plays out but should be fun to see.

You literally win if you score ONE MORE POINT. So of course you take an awful three and get blocked.

It’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen. I know it’s just an All-Star event with no real implications but that’s the shot he’d take in a real game too in the same situation.

I wouldn't call Jalen Green representative of the NBA.... maybe he can be the ambassador of losing in the NBA, though.

On the other hand, Bane did the smart thing, got to the line, got the win.

Not sure your point here, because I see this all the time in close games where a score of any kind will win and they ALWAYS go for the three. It's mental.
