Dumb question? Might be.
But there's some people that consider lebron the greatest. Michael Jordan did so much and broke records in less than 15 seasons in his whole career in the NBA next to lebron in his 19 seasons and on going career in the NBA. Jordan was destined for Greatness. Stats says it all to. Who do yall think is the greatest? |

Both are great in their way....but...huge plus for MJ, as for me, he changed and revolutionized the game and the NBA. So i would say MJ will stay the greatest and close to him Lebron...

LeChoke will never be considered the greatest. Your title should say MJ or Kobe since he’s the closest to Mike we have ever seen. LeChoke vs Magic is a closer comparison.

Mike is the greatest. Not even close. A wonderful ambassador for the game. A true winner. Unlike LeCCP.

There's a subtle distinction between Greatest and Best. Wilt Chamberlain was a better individual player than Bill Russell, but Russell was greater than Wilt. Best is purely about skills, and I would say it heavily favors peaks. Greatest includes success and stature, and in my opinion compiling stats over many years.
Lebron is stronger and bigger. He's probably a better natural passer, although Jordan was an underrated passer and Lebron isn't the passing messiah we were promised. Lebron is a better three point shooter. He's played for longer, of course, he'll probably own most of the major total-related records before he's done. That said... Jordan was both better and greater, and honestly, it's not even close enough to be a legitimate question. People only debate it because of some stats and All-NBA teams and whatnot. On paper, it might look like a legit question. But anyone familiar with the sport who's actually seen enough of Jordan instinctively knows with absolute certainty that he was better. Unless they're biased or trying to be sensational, e.g., invested in elevating the current NBA for professional reasons like a broadcaster who wants everyone to think the sport is improving, or a podcaster who needs a controversial take, something like that. The more interesting comparison is Lebron versus Bird. And in terms of peak, I would take Bird. Bird at his best was better than Lebron at his best. Again, you have to see enough of the actual play, not just a paper matchup. Hell, Bird at his very best was pretty much as good as Jordan. Lebron is probably greater than Bird now, I guess, given the titles and longevity. If I'm building a team to win for one season, though, I'm taking Bird over Lebron. And I'm definitely, DEFINITELY taking Jordan over Lebron. |

Strong arguments can be made for both. And LeBron is still an MVP-like player. Think about that. By the time LeBron is done…

MJ, not even close. I'm puzzled at how some people nowadays give so little weight to the amount of titles won for a modern superstar player. Who knows, maybe in 10 years we'll compare potential GOATs between guys with only 2 rings.

Hard to say who the GOAT is when you're playing a team sport.
But I will say when you're the only guy in the center ring honoring all other NBA Legends...you're the GOAT.

Jordan is the best basketball player of all time, and I wouldnt put Lebron number two. However, Lebron is the best and most dominant athlete to ever play in the NBA.

The question only exists because of the strong commercialization and monetization of the league. There always has to be a star to be juxtaposed against MJ because it stimulates discussion and interest.
In reality, the GOAT would not have a long history of clanking clutch free throws, which Lebron does, and displayed as recently as a few weeks ago on ABC vs the Warriors. In reality, the GOAT would be able to take a decent roster -- including a guy who will go down as a top 3 or top 5 PF of all time -- and make the playoffs easily. |

Haha longevity stats...comeon now...Lebron has 13 All-NBA 1st teams, which means he was at a minimum top 5 player for that year and 17 total selections along with 4 MVPs...lets not pretend he and Frank Gore have anything in common

He is going to try to hang around and get as many records as he can. And a lot of those are the result of how long he's played. I don't care if he gets the scoring record - that doesn't elevate him at all because of that.

Jordan and it is not even close after that. Imagine the stats Jordan would put up today against defenders who can’t even touch you anymore....There is a reason players last longer in today’s game
