Hopefully story proves me wrong but this signing seems like disaster waiting to happen.

I picture year 3 when he’s hitting .220 with 20 hrs and we have 3 years left. And they still need 2-3 good arms if they plan on competing.

Good for him and I wish him luck! We'll see if the hobby love starts now.

Agree. I don't like this signing. Hopefully, he gives the Sox at least three good years.

Seems like the money would have been better spent on an arm or two.

I'm excited for the signing. It'll be nice to have someone capable of stealing double digit bases (at least for now) on the team. Probably would have preferred getting a solid arm for the rotation, but I'm not mad at this signing at all.

Hopefully he brings some of that Colorado air with him.

I really don't get it. Story's road splits are very uninspiring.

The money would've been best directed toward Freddie Freeman. It's baffling their contract totals ended up near each other, as Freeman is far superior (even at a less premium position).

Freeman wanted to go west though.

I hope I’m wrong as I have nothing against Story or the Yankees, but I don’t like this. He’s a decent player with some pop and speed, but I don’t think he’s the answer - even as a stop gap until Vople is ready. Players as streaky as Story get a lot of flack in NY during the cool periods. He’s never been in that type of fishbowl, and as someone else said, his stats away from Coors seems to indicate that the cool streaks may be more prevelant

The way I’m reading this, you seem to be under the impression that Story signed with the Yankees…?

Freeman wanted to play in LA. He doesn’t like the northern weather (and especially didn’t want to play in the north east), and was clear that he wouldn’t sign with another team.

Honestly LA is going to get a couple good years then have an albatross w/his contract. So hard to disagree w/Bloom to let Freeman be someone else’s problem.

One day, people will get over the Coors stigma and also realizes it can an overall effect on the player having to suddenly see a ball break more than they are used to from at home.

I think he will do just fine in Boston offensively to be honest, and he still has gold glove caliber defense.

Lol - I’m an idiot. I actually thought he signed with the Yankees. Mea culpa. I don’t have anything to share about what actually happened.

apparently he's playing 2nd this season and Xander is probably opting out next season, so if he leaves, Story moves back to SS.

but what an infield in Boston...Devers, Xander, Story, and Bobby Dalbec. good stuff.

AL East has a couple of ridiculous infields, now.

Hard to pick between Toronto and Boston, now…
