Default Question about psa auto grades

If a card is graded gem mint, but they gave it a 9 auto. Can you re-sub to get the auto grade removed and just have a psa 10 card?

If so, do they re-inspect the card? Or is it just a lock, assuming the case is in perfect shape and wasn't tampered with.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, you can reholder it to just have it say PSA/DNA Authentic for the auto. It's automatic if the holder hasn't been tampered with.

Yes you can. You can even just omit the auto grade just to have a psa 10 gem.

Depends on why it was sent through dual grading. If it's pre-1998 or IP/TTM signed (not factory original), the PSA/DNA has to stay on it.

however the auto grade can still be swapped for authentic instead of a 9.

Conversely, if a card is graded Authentic with a 10 auto, can you re-sub to get a numerical grade on the card without them having to re-grade the auto?

Yes, you just have to fill out the form correctly.

General question...for factory auto’s whats the benefit of a number graded auto vs Authentic at resale? Does a 8 or 9 auto sell for more than an A? Thanks in advance

I think most people grading 1998+ factory autos don't bother even getting the auto graded as its not necessary. but, auto grade is a personal preference. I think it would depend on the circumstances.

If I have a couple of nice modern RC's that have gemmed but the auto came back an 8. (First time subbing auto so thought I had to)

Do you guys think that would deter a buyer since most only care about the card grade?

Or worth reholdering and removing the grade?

I would probably put each card in the 800 range or so in Gem Mint? The auto's don't look bad at all. I think because some parts the sharpie is not pressed down as hard as the other parts so more faded looking?

I mean these are factory autos pulled from packs.

Honestly don't think either is bad enough for an 8 that I got.

I guess that is the reasoning. My fault for doing that grading. Learned my lesson. Now is it worth reholdering or people not gonna care as much since card is gem.
